Anyone have any tips on how to get the injectors out of the throttle bodies? Ive undone the retaining plate and its only hel in now by its o-rings but the fecker is in there tight and i dont want to damage anything.
You can put 2 short M3 or M4, can't remember, capheads in the side of the injector. There is a hole on either side. That gives you a place to grip with some suitable pliers to twist.
I got the thing out. Not before it took its blood sacrifice from my finger/knuckle though. Thats for the help guys.
You can also spray some WD40 in from the other end and then use the perfect sized socket as a drift and tap it out with a hammer
he's got it out now Martin, and need to add that i can't think of a single Ducati approved service centre in the world that would use a drift and a hammer to remove one of their injectors. The only part of the injector visible when fitted is "plastic".
They're all still on the bike. I doubt I could use that method unless the throttle bodies were off the bike.
If all else fails I like to use a bandsaw to cut through the throttle body or perhaps some carefully shaped explosives would work too.
I certainly felt that they needed something more volatile. They were really really tight. I mean, really really really tight.
it's not something i have had to do v,often. not since the old days of 16v fiats anyhoo. i have used 2x angled trim tools placed back to back to give a decent amount of leaverge after a healthy dose of silicon lubricant spray. i'm curious as to why you are removing them.
My pipes in tank disintegrated leaving sludge, residue, gum and all sorts after being left standing for yrs. ive cleaned out the tank. Replaced all pipes and cleaned my fuel lines to throttle bodies. So thought id clean these too. 1299 is on its way to almeria. Making use of all the new found space ive got in garage.
