hi guys can anyone help? i have never claimed on house insurance before, by my missus managed to put her watch in the tumble dryer and its been written off by my house insurers. they offered me replacement watch or voucher for the full value in goldsmith or ernest jones less £100 excess. ive got my eye on the other watch i want to get my bird as a replacement which is more expensive, but i found it somewhere else for the same price as the original model in goldsmith. so ive asked for money, but they telling me that if i want cash i can only get 60% of the claim or voucher for the full value for goldsmith or erns jones only. does it sounds right? i would have though if they approved total amount they can give me cash?
Yes it does sound right as Goldsmiths will not have charged the insurer face value for the voucher. You could argue for full cash value but you may or may not get it and as the watch you want to buy is in Goldsmiths, is it worth the hassle ? Andy
