Swapped my Speed Triple with various Triumph accessories including the Arrow 3-1 exhaust in for a 2012 848 Evo that was already fitted with the Termignoni DP exhaust kit last summer. Insurance renewal is April, my Triumph use to cost me just over £100/annum & I grumbled about parting with another £100+ a couple of months later & declared the exhaust. Auto renewal came through last week at £750+, once I'd regained the ability to stand I phoned Hastings to query it & instructed them to cancel the auto renew. The person on the phone at that time assured me that it must be a mistake, they called me back last night telling me it wasn't a mistake... It's the exhaust apparently, now surely it's the law that when you own a Ducati it must be fitted with Termignoni exhausts? I'm 50, have been riding 1000cc bikes for something like 20 years & have only had a couple of summers without having a bike on the road since I was 16 & part of the justification of having a bike in the toy cupboard, sorry garage with the other half is that it costs me peanuts to insure (obviously man maths means that the accessories & clothing costs never come up) & run. So before I hit gocompare & the likes, who do you use (with modifications declared) & how much should an old boy be parting with? 50 years old, full no claims, 2000/3000 miles a year, garaged & living in the wilds of Gloucestershire
Ducati insurance are who I use, all mods declared, term's, carbon etc etc, this year Bennets competed and actually were cheaper but, I liked the comfort of every mod listed and understood by the insurer. So no assessor could dispute a claim over my "bar ends" !!
Might be worth trying Carole Nash.I am somewhat older than 50 and have just had my renewal through the post. For two Ducatis and a classic Triton £305 fully comp.
Ducati insurance, Termi's, carbon etc all declared incl legal cover £128. The ironic thing is the cover is with Zenith, who is the same company i was insured with that the shower of shit known as Bennetts said do not cover bikes with Termi exhausts or more than 3 mods and refused to insure me. ? Ducati insurance rep just laughed when i told them and said no problem all covered no quibles about mods as long as declared.
Gsxr1000 £110 fully comp, Ducati 1098 £350. 10 years ncb, never claimed. Ducatis are expensive to insure for some reason known only unto the brokers.
+1 for Ducati Insurance although if they have to pay out they will only pay on the standard equipment, I'm with Aviva who cover the aftermarket costs on my Multistrada1200sT. Andy
Been with Bennetts before & will confess to not being a fan. So Ducati Insurance looking favourable so far. Use to insure a heavily modified 916 through Norwich Union (via a broker) with all mods declared & values listed, when the thing was written off (non fault) they only offered £2k for the mods, they were worth considerably more than that at secondhand prices! & hence I went 13 + years before owning a Ducati again. Despite that NU were fantastic with the rest of the claim.
£250 for mine, with claims assistance and personal accident, 46- 1198s- 3points 4 years ago. Through DI
Carole Nash for me excellent premium and service give them a ring rather than internet then you can explain exactly what it is/has got as there are so many drop down boxes especially for exhausts performance enhanced, not perfomance enhanced , cosmetic etc
Ducati for me, claim last year on my 1198sp with termis listed and insured! Paid out full listed amount and new quote for an 899 added to my scooter is £183 FC! And as someone else stated, no arguments about performance enhancement just tell them and although it is not insured at least they won't argue and use it not to pay out.
I had quotes all around that level for my Corse when I bought it. Called Ducati Insurance and paid about £400 fully comp with Termis and one or two carbon bits declared. Anywhere else that got close (MCE for example) put the price up miles when I added the Termis to the quote. Watch the comparison sites closely, even though I put exactly the right information into the tool, the prices didn't always allow for what I asked for. Ducati Insurance are superb to deal with, when I renewed this year they were excellent again. Quick to answer the phone every time I've called and very good service.
