  1. Hi,any thoughts on having Termi's on my 998 which when asked 2 years ago by the insurance company,if any mods had been done, having just bought the bike,I sort of forgot to mention them.I'm aware that this could invalidate my policy/claim if a bump occured, however are they recognised as a "factory fitted option",in which case would it be ok to tell them Ive just had them fitted?.ps I think they are 50mm open pipe type and the eprom has been changed by the previous owner.pps I do still have the original cans/eprom.thanks

  2. depended on the insurer but as i understand it technically if you dont declare they have the right to not payout at all in the event of a claim, especialy if they deem it a 'performance' upgrade

many insurers are happy with mods if you declare them, but will only insure the stock value of the bike

  3. Interesting one this i've just filled out insurance due to start 9/9/12, last year i never declared anything but this year went all in Declared different wheels, Ecu mapping, (Race) and Full Termingoni system think you have too if theres a performance % increase, Anything not stock basically? Think termis are sold as optional extras' however they tend to come with the specials Sp and R's? (Grey Area). Anyway pushed my premium up by £30 (seriously). Better to be safe the way insurance companies are if they can avoid paying out they will.

  4. It would seem that increasingly insurance companies look at non standard items as problem, particularly if they are not on their drop down list.
My very modest brush with declaring modifications on my previous bike was a nightmare, how these bikes we see advertised with a list of modifications as long as your arm get insurance is beyond me.

What are peoples experience of dealing with these issues after a claim ?

  5. I'm insured with AXA through Swinton Bikes. Both Swinton and AXA are fully aware that i have a set of Termi slip on's fitted.
It's listed as an extra on my policy and AXA themselves have told me they will fully replace them if needed.
As far as i'm concerned that's good enough.....................................of course i havn't claimed yet.................but they are on the policy.

  6. If you have bought the bike second hand, you always have a get out.

As far as you are aware, the bike does not have any performance modifications, just aesthetic modifcations. At the end of the day, you are not a mechanic, and can not check / be responsible, for what modifications may have been made by previous owners.

Aesthetic modifcations will not increase your premium, but, in the event of a claim, the insurance company will repair the bike with standard parts only.

  7. Everything is declared on mine, with Ducati insurance, they dont charge any extra for it, but will only replace with stock items in the event of a claim.
