Insurance Trackers

  1. As some may know from my other thread, i have been asked to have a tracker installed on a few of my bikes to get insurance.

However, when querying with the dealer, it was mentioned that there is

    Biketrac
    and
    Tracker.

Apparently Biketrac only allows you to track it and you can call the police, but Tracker is directly linked to the police so if you verify that you're not with the bike, they call the police for you?

THe insurance specifically says Biketrac, but if Tracker is better, I would rather convince then to allow for Tracker.

Has anyone had experience or know a bit more about both?

on prices, both cost the same but Tracker has 2 year free subscription but costs more afterwards.

    Thanks

  2. I use BikeTrac. I pay £99 per year and they call me pretty sharpish if I forget to turn the ignition on and move the bike. Never had it get to the stage of need the police (as it's always been me) but from what I understand, BikeTrac call you and you say it's genuine. At that point, you (as the owner) have to report the theft but from that point on the communication is between BikeTrac and the police.

I do believe that BikeTrac even turn off your access to the portal to stop a bit of medieval vigilantism :punch:

  3. A mate of mines Pani had trackers, he saw it being nicked in central London, called the old bill, who said they were too busy and no units available. My mate tracked the bike to the limehouse link tunnel then the signal went dead, bike never seen again. In this case the tracker worked but the back up from law enforcement did not . So in this case tracker was wasted .
