916 Intake Runner Wellnut Size?

  1. So my intake runner tubes no longer seal properly due to stripped wellnuts.

Airbox pressurisation not happening, no funky Helmholtz resonator sounds :(

I've tried ordering M6's, M4's.... none fit! What size are the furshlugginer nuts??

  2. Where are these wellnuts fitted?
The tube is fitted to the airbox with spring clips

  3. Only bolts that have anything to do with the air tubes are at the front where the nose cone bolts though them.

  4. Ah, ok....so to clarify, I'm talking about the nuts that hold the circled screws in:

Mine have stripped the rubber wellnut and no longer pull the two pieces in tight.... at least I think they're wellnuts?

  5. Think there self taper screws mate, if they have stripped it will be new air tubes.

  6. try a soldering iron and an plastic cable tie and try to melt the 2 together in the threaded hole and the self tapper should be a tighter fit

  8. Great, those are the ones. Mine are definitely not self-tapping. Must be a quirk of the early bikes.
Thanks for the links, it might just be time for new runners if I can't get these ones sealed.
