Integrated Heated Grips

  1. Are these something you can buy and just connect up yourself or does the ECU need to be reprogrammed to know they are now fitted?

  2. i think your hot hands will tell you if there fitted, the bike wont be too bothered either way

    :upyeah:

  3. They are turned on and off and the heat settings toggled through by pressing the starter button. It seems a strange thing to do when you are used to conventional starters that have the solenoid hard-wired to the button. If the heated grips settings come up in the round LCD display then the ECU doesn't need programming, but I suspect it will.

  4. ECU needs enabling

  5. Thanks Freak, that's the answer I was looking for, so the £208 is plus fitting? If so then God that's expensive!!

  6. If mine hadn't come with heated grips I wouldn't have bothered at that cost. I'd have fitted Oxford or similar.

  7. about £280 all in....that's what I paid

  8. That is obscene money for a set of heated grips, I'll keep an eye on eBay, to keep the cost down or I will go oxford route!

  9. Yes it is obscene as with most things for bikes if you want quality gear....

  10. On the plus side, they do work very well

  11. Agreed but the line must be drawn somewhere and £280 for heated grips is ripping the piss a little in my opinion.
As well as any other less expensive option?

  12. imo they work better than the oxford grips I have on my R1.
With summer gloves on, with wet hands, number 2 is about as hot as I want it. With dry hands 1 is just right, even on the coldest days.
with winter gloves on then 2 is just right. I can't ride for much longer than 20 minutes with them set to 3 as my hands start to ache...

By comparison I always use them onthe hottest setting with winter summer or gloves.

Trying to figure out now how I can fit a heated seat and hand warmers for the wife / pillion :cool:

  13. Heated pillion seat is available :upyeah:

  14. Really ?
I've not seen that listed anywhere. Wonder where it plugs into, and how you control it. Any info gratefully received - by the wife obviously
We're investigating Gerbing heated gloves & waistcoat at present. A friend has a pair of wraparound heated elements on the rear handles that his wife uses. Quite discrete and easily removable, plus no need to plug her in.

  15. Not cheap but neither are the DP versions.

    Sargent Ducati Multistrada 1200 2010+

Sorry my mistake, front seat only with heating. :upyeah:

  16. Boomer, those are the pads I've been looking at.
Ape, I already have the touring seats so I don't want to splash another load of cash on the sargent seats. Thanks though, I didn't know they did them heated.

I'll let you all know how I get on with fitting the pads when I get around to it (won't be over christmas as bike is at dealers for a few weeks ).

Those Symtec pads look pretty good, I wonder how well they work. Anyone tried them ?

  17. Remember that you have to disassemble the bike down to this to get to the electrical connectors for the grips:redface: So then I think £280 with instalation, is a good price!

  18. Agree, never seen Symtec heaters before, look interesting..

Personally i have the Ducati ones, not cheap, but then anything Ducati isnt usually!! But been very happy with them

Be intrested to see how you go on with the seat heater pad John, i to have the touring seat combo and was thinking off giving it a go...?
