Appriecate some help if possible. Working my way through the bike making my mark on it and im currently trying to fit a Rear light with the integrated indicators....the first problem i had was that the rear brake light wouldnt work (but that looks to be the supplier getting the wiring round the wrong way - ill be able to check that later when i get home) The second issue is with the indicators (the integrated ones) - cant remember where i saw it but someone said that there is a service menu (just found that) where you can change the rear config for LED indicators. Questions are: The other night when i was initially trying to get them working, Was that because i needed to go into the service menu and enable that function? And if i do enable that function do i need the resistors still (it came with 2 white ceramic resistors about 5-6cm long) Thanks to anyone that can throw some light on the subject. Pardon the pun. Just to add: it looks like the evo menu is different to the old motards - ie I can go to "set" and "pro" but cant go into either whats the "enter" button? Oh - ive rewired the brake light part and that is now working.
i quite fancied doing this until i got some tasty rizoma rears, but isn't it illegal and an automatic mot fail now days?
Your right - it is. Ive got regular indicators for the MOT and swtich back to integrated for the rest of the year - only takes about 10 mins or so to do the switch. When it comes to bikes i like to keep it minimal with the less things sticking out the better. Ironically i just flogged the rizoma mirrors on there to go back to foldy-out-ones... My other bike went through its mot on tuesday.....indicators off - smaller plate back on.... Plus if youre on a new bike then you can do it for 3 years or so until you need the mot doing....mines up next march or something like that for its first one. once the light is fitted you dont have to take it back out for the mot - just disconnect the indicators and re route them to the normal ones. Its a bit of a shit really as there are loads of new cars out there that have the indicators inside the brake/rear lights...
yeah, as per other thread i toyed with getting rid of foldy mirrors and getting the racing hand guards and indicator mirrors, but for some reason an we may be in the minority, i prefer the look of the foldy out ones, in fact i prefer the whole look of my 2010 to the newer ones, i hate the look of the side exhaust, give me the double barrel underseat ones any day. post a pic when you get chance
Sure will - im lining up for my next bit of clutch bling...gonna get an oberon pressure plate - couple of weeks time though.... Oh expecting good things on the tail tidy - i phoned the guy at the fabricators yesterday, reckons he can fold one from one piece of alloy....my tail tidy will be set back about 2" more than the republique one and about an inch higher - effectively a couple of mil from the bottom of the pipes (the number plate LED will sit up within the gap). I had another thought as well....theres a weird muguard thing on mine that the indicator cables run though - its a bit half arsed - kinda just hangs there with a couple of tie wraps holding it up (could be the previous owner though) - i thought about an alloy mudguard that bolts to the same points as the tail tidy so from regular view, you cant see anything but it stops the debris from the wheel getting sprayed up inside just under the seat and around that area....which means you could have a nice small hugger as well.... Whaddaya think?
sounds pretty decent, i got the rizoma clutch plate in red with duc performance open carbon cover which does look pretty trick, last night fitted the rizoma lux grips (which either involve some filing or drilling to get in the right place) and the rizoma cable cover, next thing is that aluminium engine guard from Ducati which looks pretty decent and unless i go for a new rear set next year that might be it for a while, will post some pics when i can get around to it (workin a lot lately, partly to pay for all these mods)
Ha - me too (did 20 hours this weekend) - got another 2x 8hour days coming this weekend also - having 3 kids and xmas coming up doesnt help either - but i did find a nifty option on paypal last week where you can buy stuff and delay the payment for 2 weeks....found it by accident....which opens up a whole new avenue....
epiphany - if that's how you spell it - to go into service mode hold down the indicator cancel key after switching the ignition on....
Glad you found it. Does it work ok now? I don't think you need the resistors as the led setting just reduces the voltage for you.
Yeah - if that option was in the menu - I think its just for the older ones from what I can see.....tried for a couple of hours last night - all I can do is get it to come on permanently - mind you they sent it with the brake like and running light round the wrong way so its not going well. When I go into the service menu all it gives me is the ecu option and then the locale - ie jap, uk, eu etc etc....cant see anything other than that - shit if they took it out as that would have been really handy. Gave up and changed the rear brake pads on the rsv...
Well, kinda got to a conclusion. In work at the moment and got one of the electrical engineers to take a look with a meter. Apparently the flashing signal is outputted from the wiring loom on the negative wire. The light that ive got it looking for the flashing signal on the positive so theres no way its going to work - or so it would seem at the moment. So it looks like the evo is wired differently to the earlier version. Or thats what it looks like anyway. Anyone else got a rear integrated light working on an evo??
I tried to access it on my 796 (same Siemens ecu as yours I think), indicator cancel did nothing on mine but by holding down lower menu toggle button (does that make sense) then turning on ignition I had a menu with PRO come up but it seemed to require a 5 figure code to be put in. Don't know where to get that code I tried making one up but didn't work and too afraid to try again.
That code is the one from your ducati card that you got with the bike...apparently you use that if youve got immobiliser problems - that kind of thing....unless the menu is in there....
I just looked at my card has got 5 figure electronic code but I'm not home to try it at moment. it did say 00000 PRO on dash so maybe it is in there??
Yup. Once again... Missing the point... We've got past that. The point is those menu's don't exist on the newer clocks...
