Intercom By Cardo

  1. The wife hinted that we should buy an intercom system so she can talk to me whilst she is riding her bike and I am enjoying the sweet sound of my engine on my bike. After trying to put it off purely because listening to her yap whilst riding my bike didn't appeal to me I gave in. The hunt for intercom commenced and we eventually settled on Cardo Scala rider freedom 4, we bought the duo pack from J&S when they were having the 25% off sale.
I set it up in both helmets which was a piece of cake, she has a shark HD helmet which has recesses for the ear pieces and I have a hemet of a lesser known brand which had cut outs for the ear pieces. The kit has a boom mic for a flip front helmets or and stick on mic for the full face helmets, the sound quality is superb the wife's voice is crystal clear and the range is at least a half a mile. She can play her music through it from her iPhone which she liked a lot and I was just impressed with the mute button.

  2. I have just fitted Scala Packtalk to the partners lid (biker bonnet as she calls it ) for an upcoming road trip . Must have a read of the instruction manual for a mute button.....

  5. They don’t tend to work too well into triple figures as you can’t hear the wife. I just keep my speed up (Scala Q1 Teamset)

  6. I use the Cardo Q1 teamset as an intercom with the wife when she rides pillion also. We both hate it. It’s not a patch on the old Autocom hardwired system we had for years.
Impossible to hear anything at speed and has an annoying habit of disconnecting itself from the other pained unit.

  7. No such issues on mine in about 2 years of use. Only problem I’ve had was one of the batteries die. A couple of quid later I replaced it myself.

Sound isn’t great at triple figure speeds but I find it fine at normal speeds to just drop down a tad when I can’t quite hear her.

  9. I did look for the "wife off" command in the voice activation menu but couldn't find it anywhere.
Aside from that little omission on Cardo's part we have found the Paktalks quite splendid and cheaper than their equivalent Sena.

  10. The problem comes when you keep trying the command and after the 4th or 5th time, she doesn’t take the hint and do it herself
