anyone knows the law for providing invoice with the purchase? basically i purchased set of rebuilt tripple SU carbs for my etype resto from engineering company back in May. it was quite expensive purchase and i really want an invoice to go with the car history as well as proof of my purchase for warranty ( seller gave me 1 year warranty) seller been promising me invoice since May and basically i realised now that he doesnt want to give it to me for whatever reasons. i googled this question and nothing conclusive coming up. can i enforce him to give me an invoice? i am talking about legal way of enforcing rather than russian style which i am familiar with but not very fond of.
a quick reminder that he has to pay the vat he has collected and phone calls can be made should motivate him. the VAT man doesent mess around,
he told me he is not VAT registered. this guy http://www.adr-engineering.co.uk/index.php and ofcourse i done today what i should have done before purchase- goodled his name. here what it come up with. http://www.uphillracers.com/showthread.php?p=140083 maybe will have to revert to familiar styles of enforcement
i would still threaten him with a call to the vat man, its damn near impossible to not be VAT reg in the motor trade. they will conduct an audit.
I understand your desire to maintain a record of the restoration but from my perspective, the question that needs answering given his reputation is, did he do a good job ? If he did, you've got away lightly by the sound of it. Andy
In regards to your chap, the company number he gives on their webpage(Company Registration Number: 8366973) shows the firm was dissolved in Sept 2015 https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/08366973 It looks like they dissolved the company Peculiar thing, the same named person also set up this 09898771 company with the same name in December 2015? at a different address but is registered with companies house https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/09898771 Same person again https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/10064619/officers
will not get round to testing it till sometime next year and car is in bits. looks good, but no idea on whether job was good or not
I am proper pissed now. Tried to call- no answer. I think he will end up feeling sorry , not me in the end thou...
Why get pissed off about it? Why not just knock one up yourself? The blokes not vat registered, so at best you'd get a typed out receipt (which you can do yourself) unless he told you at the time of purchase then in fairness to the bloke as long as his product was well made and you're happy with it then surely that's enough isn't it?
It looks like he is setting companies up in Adrian Daniels and then other companies/the same company as Adrian Paul Daniels. I agree with dam, small companies doing multi open and close companies happens all the time, if your only beef is no receipt then there is ways around that as purely a document of when and what work was done with the cost Don't fret, make your own
Maybe Im looking at this too simplistic, but I still don't think its that relevant how the chap runs his businesses in fairness to him. Unless I've missed something theres nothing bad said about his product/service, all seems well on that front. Other than being able to call on the warranty of one year which isn't actually being asked for, at the moment the only thing missing is something to go in the cars history. Its purely that he hasn't provided an invoice which if he's not VAT registered would only be a receipt at best stating what he charged the buyer, what for and when. An email would suffice on that front. Its not a requirement that its even on headed paper with any logos Whether he's running this particular job through the books or not isn't really anyones business other than his and the inland revenue IMO. Does the OP have an email stating the price and warranty offered from when you first made contact? If so thats good enough. If not then perhaps ease back on the request for a 'proper invoice' and just ask the guy to clarify in a response email that he's still offering the 12 month warranty from the date you paid him which can be proven by the payment in your bank records , unless of course you paid cash. Also if you haven't already maybe just explain why your asking as he might be more helpful if its just for peace of mind and your log of when warranty would run out.
Just to clarify: We are talking about significant amount of money here. Cost of those carbs could cover purchase of second hand family car or semi- decent Ducati. I don't think I am being unreasonable in asking for receipt. It's a bit like taking your bike to a dealer for a oil change and paying few hindered £ for something you can easily do yourself at home - all cos you want that stamp. At no point seller told me that he will not be able to provide me with receipt. Every time I managed to get hold of him he told me it will be next thing on his list to do. Last communication on 16 of August: I will do it tomorrow, sorry for the delay... I don't think anyone on here likes piss to be taken out off and time being wasted ? Or am I wrong? Why the fuck should I type out my own receipt when I purchased something with agreement with hat receipt will be provided?
I get what you are saying dam, I suppose it comes down to what yev is after that was the reason for the thread I would suggest some in here may have or know people who have crashed companies to reopen for financial reasons under a different name that is almost identical, that personally would put me off using them myself but I do understand why some do it I don't think yev is asking for a warranty as he has mentioned it will be well well after getting them before they are fitted and tested so even if it had a warranty it will probably be voided by then But for the purpose he mentioned and as a collectors car that inevitably will be sold at some point, then anyone who has ever bought one likes one thing more than the car or bike and that is receipts. Yev, I can see you are getting wound up but if he is now more or less a one man band then I've known those types to be swamped under with work, paper work even life so a couple of weeks wait for something would not be unusual, it happens. I'm not sure what your current relationship is with the chap but me personally I would email them if you have one, explain why the receipt or at least an explanatory note of the works and cost done would be appreciated as I'm sure given the work he does, he will understand why receipts are important to the cars history, explain you will follow your email up in a few days with a call and for him to call you if there are any difficulties. If he still is a no go then there is little you can do, personally I would just type up a page of the works done, the costs and by whom and add it to the large pile I'm sure you have
