899 Iphone 6 Charging Solutions

  1. Hey everyone. Here I am with another of my silly questions. What solutions do you guys use to charge your phone? I purchased the Telferizer kit to mount the iPhone on the fork, but since I'll use it as a satnav, I'm wondering how to charge it. Ideally, a USB plug as close as possible to the fork would be great (with cables hidden, because, let's face it, nobody likes to see cables). Do you plug yours into the battery? If so, how invisible is your solution? Thanks everyone in advance!!

  2. I'm in the same position, I've just received the Telferizer kit for my Iphone 5 and am looking at a means to power the phone before I leave to the NW200 in 2 weeks time. My battery is fitted with an "Optimate" charge lead, i believe there is a kit that you can use to go straight from that to a USB connector. Once I figure it out I'll let you know.

Are you using bluetooth headphones to hear the sat nav or just visual?

  3. Hi bananaman, I'm not using it for any headset, I'll go just visual. I don't want the voice of a phone to cover the noise of the exhaust haha! I'll have a look at the optimate solution. Is it waterproof? Have you managed to hide your cables? I'm a bit OCD for that :) thanks!!!

  4. I use the optimate solution but, in the past I've bought and use a trailing USB cable from the battery tie wrapped to the top yoke/fork leg area.... Having said that I've never used the phone as a visual sat nav and just plugged my headphones in and listen to the turn based audio.

  5. Thank you very much! Is the Optimate solution this one? https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/103779
And how hidden are the cables? Can they run "underneath" the tank?

  6. That's the old connector.... Look for the "sae" type... They stopped selling those a couple of years back.... Fitment: depends on you.... You could permanently run the cable to the front and then just unplug it when you want to put the bike on tender..... If you think you're charging/sat nav phone usage is going to be high then I'd run a dedicated one from the battery... I'll go find a link a min...

  7. You legend! Thanks for the advice. Yeah, I think the usage is going to be quite high (I'm thinking about going to Italy for 2 weeks), and I'm not too expert about london roads either. If you could find a link that would be amazing! Thanks a lot!!!!!

  8. You are a star, thank you so much. Can you fit it myself or is there a lot of diy involved? Thanks again!!!

  9. No... Not atall.... Match the colours up on the battery.... Red, pos black, neg. As the cable is thinner its easier to run and in most cases you can tuck it in where you need to. Disconnecting the battery will reset the clock/dash..... Depending on how long you want to spent hiding the cable.... I'd say no more than 20 mins.... Ie for my rsv 4 I chose to lift the tank so took me about an hour or so...

  10. The only thing to note is to make sure the cable doesn't rest against the engine or pipe as it'll melt it...

  11. I use the Ducati to Optimate USB adapter and plug it in to the connector under the pillion seat. Run a USB charge cable down the back of the RH fairing panel and tie wrap it to the wire harness coming up by the forks.

  12. Yip... I did say that was an option earlier..

  13. This is the adaptor I use and then an SAE to USB similar to comfysofa. Not the cheapest but plug and forget mostly.

    SAE to Ducati Power Lead

  14. I'm guessing that's for a tourer... Multi or something like that...
