Is Rukka Worth It????

  1. I was at a infinity store today & I saw a Rukka textile jacket £1199 & the matching textile trousers £849

Now how do they warrant that price compared to the big names like Alpinestars, Dainese or other big names £400-£500 textiles 2 piece

  2. No. If you're going that expensive, get Stadler with a 10 year warranty (as used by the whole of the German police bike force).

  3. I don't trust infinity, they use fading receipt rolls. Which is why if you do, get it signed & named by a manager. My first rukka gear was from them & I sellotaped the receipt & placed it into a safe. Some 3-4months later I checked on it & was shocked to see no writing on it! ...take a photo of the receipt as I did for spending 2K & gave them a bollocking over the phone & by email. But now I'd avoid them like a plague. Plenty of other good biker shops; bikestop. Become a IAM member & get 15% off Rukka/biker gear from that shop to name just one.

  4. Yes it’s worth it but only if u really are putting the miles in. For me I would buy it if I was commuting year round. Nothing worse than getting wet and cold

  5. Bought my Rukka kit in 2007.
Do about 7-10k pa, and wear them whatever the weather.

Still waterproof, but now with some minor zip fastener tags repaired but still waterproof and as comfortable as an old pair of slippers.

I’d avoid any Rukka gear with the peel apart plastic no teeth zip. Heard that they can pop apart if not lubed or if a poor fit. And that was from a Rukka rep

  6. Ive had Rukka Cosmo (rrp £299 I got mine for £99) gloves about 4 years and ride in all weathers... Cant fault them and they are still waterproof and keep the wind at bay and very warm even in worst of weathers...

  7. Funny you should say that. All my Infinity receipts are now blank. They're bloody expensive too.
I use Helmet city quite a lot now. They always do deal for regulars. For price Get Geared take some beating.

  8. I’ve commuted year round in alpinestars goretex stuff and it was all I needed. Never tried rukka stuff but never felt the need to upgrade the cheaper alpinestars stuff I had. I got alpinestars cause I already had leathers from them and knew my size.

  9. I like KLIM but dont like the price ...

  10. Friend bought the top spec Rukka 5 years ago. Still waterproof but the zip lock main zip is rubbish. It knicks easily & pops open far too often. Venting, even now improved is very poor.
I wear Klim stuff; just as waterproof with excellent venting. Read up on Stadler but have no experience of it. Gore pro laminate is the standard I look for. Venting, fit & colour are next.

  11. Used rukka over last 8 years. My first Rukka suit was the Aramas s with a normal zip. The jacket failed miserably and rukka replaced with the new jacket with the fancy “lockout” zip. With constant silicon lubing the zip stayed intact for around 6 years however the rest of the jacket didn’t. Leaked and creases at the bend in the arm caused the laminated gortex to break through resulting in wet arms. My second jacket and initial trousers turned a shade of red and rukka replaced with a complete suit. The jacket of the new complete suit leaked and was returned and yet again went at the arm creases. rukka reckoned the creases were wear and tear so tuff luck. After around 3 years the pocket zips and cuffs failed and yet again rukka reckoned wear and tear. Got a contact name from trans am which replaced zips. Finally gave up the ghost 2 years ago when I fell off. Did protect me with only broken ribs. Apart from the discolouration of suit the trousers did perform well. Swore I wouldn’t buy another rukka but purchased a new rukka navigator suit last year. Two weeks ago whilst at an Italian classic bike event guess what ? The standard zip opened up basically trapping me in the jacket. As we all know zips don’t want to go down. Whilst trying to extract myself from the jacket the handle pulled off. Now I have a jacket at the start of my weekend that won’t close. 35 other bikers all on classic Italian bikes pissing themselves laughing at me. Great advert for rukka! Anyway jacket now returned for repair.
    Maybe I just jinxed.

  13. Never heard of Stadler but looks good stuff. Apart from moto legends that offer one jacket don’t appear to have any uk stockists to actually see the stuff. Would happily ditch rukka as stadler jackets have the storm cover for main zip and for me horizontal cargo pockets on jackets. Hate those slopped very shallow pockets. My own fault I suppose but regularly forget to zip pockets and have lost several small basic mobile phones that have fallen out. The other useful thing they offer is an in house repair service. Outside warranty rukka won’t repair anything. Need to research Stadler and bin my rukka.

  14. I just couldn't get over the price of Rukka and was about the pull the pin on full Dainese gear but after meeting the Held rep on an open day at Seastar Superbikes I was sold on their gear. I have the Imola flash jacket, Arese trousers and Air n Dry gloves. only had them for two years, but find them awesome. well worth a look. If I'd remembered to register them I would have had 5 year warranty.

  15. Based on the recommendations I thought I’d Google Stadler. Perhaps not the same company but I’m sure the description doesn’t quite match the companies blurb on its products :)

  16. Touratech UK carry them. The motolegends version is not a good design as the ones Stadler design themselves. Look at 'Companero' on the Touratech UK site.

If you buy, best to go to the Touratech showroom - they take about 25 different measurements then go and consult some charts so you get as near as made-to-measure as possible. If you want bespoke, they can have them tailored for exact fit (for a fee).

  18. I scan my receipts of expensive stuff into the pc then into an external drive.

I have had Rukka many many moons ago when they were the only one you could justify that kind of money and it was made where the company was, instead now where a lot of their products are now made in china( check the labels inside underneath the main rukka and size label)

I bought it because apart from police motorcyclists stuff, there was very little else quality wise for all year commuting. Now there are some very good companies with some excellent products from a third of the price of rukka.
