I need a new front sprocket for my 1000DS, seen this on ebay and would appreciate any experience of anyone who's used a 'Talon' sprocket before. Or indeed would welcome any advice or feedback from anyone who's done sprocket changes before, do they fit on the splines well? are they the appropriate width etc? Cheers, John. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ducati-M...680467?hash=item54437f7953:g:mdsAAMXQbcRQ7K3z

Worth mentioning that most of these types of aftermarket sprockets are lightweight alloy so they dont last very long. I also race with them and they need replacing several times a season, especially if you forget to oil them a few days at a time. Stock steel ones will last for ever.
Is there much of an advantage with alloy sprockets or is it just a case of another .1% and they all add up?
Google it, I have read articles that say it can give 5% more at the rear wheel simply because it has less resistance (on a big bike) and others that say its marginal. Race bikes tend to run 520 C&S, no idea why, whether its because they always have (popping up on braking ) or because there are minor improvements to performance (popping up on braking )
If you’ve ever held a 520 chain in one hand and a standard 525 in the other then you will realise why race bikes use 520. The weight saving of alloy sprockets also is considerable. Less weight to lug forwards, less weight to try to stop with the brakes, faster to turn, etc.
