Is this lean angle right?

It seems REALLY far over on the side stand. Almost to the point where it would topple with a bit of wind!

I feel very uneasy about it but have no other method when out and about. At home, of course, I have a paddock stand.

    Answers on a postcard please....

  2. My 749 leans practically until the pegs are scraping, I wouldn't worry. My SF is noticeably more upstanding on the stand.

  3. when I bought my 996 it had Track biased tyres on which had a high side wall, I switched to road tyres and the angle was less alarming,

  4. Add a steel base plate the same shape as the foot of the sidestand.........mine's bolted on from underneath with c/sunk allen bolts.

  5. yep my s2r has about the same if not more, being a tall chap i have raise the bike so it's a little further than the norm, but still stands upright. Although i must admit, when at home it on a paddock stand always

  6. Worth checking the stand bracket...

  7. Looks fine to me

  8. Looks a little severe to me. My 916 did similar so I have fitted a 1" longer stand. The Monster was similar and so I welded a 20mm 'club foot' to the end of the stand, not quite as elegant as the original but makes the lean more acceptable.

  9. My SS leans a lot further than that, when in the garage it leans on a 2" bit of wood and looks about right.

Must be an opportunity for an aftermarket plate, stand, bracket as this is a common observation.

  10. There are longer one available from Slingshot (IIRC) ~£100.
Personally I think they look daft leaning right over.... SOmetimes the result of someone winding the ride height right up.

  11. Made mine adjustable, cut it in half , drilled and taped both pieces and fitted some threaded bar and a spacing nut.

  12. Mine's adjustable too...so ner!

Steel foot plate approx 5mm thick (my stand was well worn at the end) bolted up from the bottom, and I can add or remove 2mm ally spacers between the plate and the end of the stand.......

  13. Thought Monster stands were renound for working loose.
Mine is in for a service with Ducati John and this is one of the many items on his check list.

  14. Check the sidestand bolts - I've lost 2 off my 696 and the 3rd one worked loose so that the bike was leaning over more than usual until we tightened it up again. Don't know if the earlier Monsters have the same problem, but worth a look.

  15. Erm you should see my monster after I jacked up the rear end with aftermarket spacer's. It makes me nervous so I always approach from one of the sides to not see the angle :)

  16. I have drilled and lockwired the main bracket bolts on mine, while if the stand end bolt nut thingy comes off, I have tightened the spring so it can't really fall off under tension.........

I have been racking my brain to find a way of locking the nut thingy without using Loctite..........I think I have a way of doing it, just need to try it out.

  17. I could do with a longer stand for my 999 as I have the rear raised and it needs a longer stand to compensate.
    available for 999 ???

  18. but better asking a woman...

experts with the angle of the dangle
