Is This Normal?

  1. This is my rear Metzeler M7RR at about 2000 miles. There's this clear band showing which is presumably the central compound. I haven't noticed this before on dual compound tyres, or certainly not this pronounced. Didn't get it on the Pirellis or the Z8's. The profile is still nicely rounded with no squaring off and no sign of compound separation but I have noticed an increase in tramlining. Anyone else had this with M7's?

  2. I have just replaced a rear tyre that didn't look particularly squared off but was causing the bike to flop into turns and then had to be held off from turning in further.

It looks very close to those wear indicators, I would change it.

  3. Its actually further off the wear indicators than it looks in the pictures. I was hoping to get another 1000 miles out of it. I'd like to run it right out of tread to see how it performs up to the end. It turns in the same as it ever did and it still very grippy.
The front one looks brand new...

  4. OK. To answer you question though I don't think it looks abnormal.
