Is This Permitted?

  1. A concert has been rescheduled, presumably due to Covid 19. I’ve got an email from the company who sold me the tickets, saying -
    ‘All tickets remain valid for the new event date, therefore we will not be able to offer you a refund. Should you not be able to attend the rescheduled event, you can click here (with a link to a website) to resell your tickets.‘
    I thought as they rescheduled the event they had to offer refunds? What if I can’t get in February? I can’t imagine me getting back what I paid for them if I ‘sell them on’ via their page...

  3. would be good to hear a legal viewpoint on this, reminds me of a certain David Bowie concert cancellation "non-scandal".
     
  4. A cancelled Bowie concert would have been a very sad thing for the ticket holders. Unless it was the Glass Spiders Tour, in which case they should be relieved...

  6. Agree with El T, When they say they will not be offering refunds, it means exactly that, if you request a refund then they must oblige. They will of course take there time and may even offer you other events, end of the day you're protected by the consumer and distance selling acts. They are just trying to hang on to monies collected for as long as possible.

I just tried to research it Jez, but memory hazy, I vaguely remember the time period between scheduled concert date and eventual refund etc dragged on for so long it was said that the interest earned on all the allotted ticket sales cudda/wudda been "huge" (no point in me even trying to guess amount).
