Right quick question. We are off to the island for the Manx/Classic in just under 2 weeks. Unfortunately we have a 3am ferry. We were thinking of going up early evening as we are 260 miles to the ferry and then having a meal and hanging around/crashing at a services near Liverpool as there is no ferry building to go into. But has anyone else dove the early ferry? If so what did you do?
I am on the same ferry this year and caught the same one last year too. It's slightly further for me (just under 300 miles) about a 5.5 to 6 hour ride. Last year I had my dinner at home then left about 8:00 pm to get to Liverpool at 1:30 - 2:00 ish and just joined the queue which is like a classic bike show. There is a portakabin with tea, coffee, snack & toilet facilities. Get a couple of hours zzzzz's on the boat. Will do the same this year, looking on the bright side it saves a day off work. Might see you in the queue. On arrival in Douglas find a cafe for breakfast then a couple of laps before it gets busy
I suspect we may do the same. Which bike will you be on? I see you have a 916 and an Mutley S Sport (as I do).....
The Mutley. It's brilliant for it, stick it in Touring mode for comfort on the way to Liverpool, and a hoot in Sport mode over the mountain. Unfortunately the 916 is a bit too uncomfortable for 300 motorway miles for my somewhat older bones these days! Pity because I was amazed how few original 916's I saw last year.
Forgot to say if you haven't been before it is an absolutely fabulous week. Make sure you go to the Classic Festival at Jurby on the Sunday too.
We went to the main one in 2014 and I had an 848 at the time. Couldnt move much after 260 miles though! I think Jurby is on the list. I have a client who is giving us use of secure parking and a 2 bed flat near the grandstand so should be fun....
May see you both there, Im taking the 998 over on Wed night for a week. First time for me so v excited!
Sorry Ozz but I'm afraid I've got an admission to make :Nailbiting: I'm still going but I've gone over to the dark side, as you will see here: http://ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/dear-jane.45444/
Just done the route map, all main roads, A31/M27/M3/A34/M40/M6. Not exciting but needs must. 4 hours 7 minutes apparently....
