V2 Issues And Annoyances?

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Phill748, Mar 10, 2020.

  1. Thought it would be good to collect thoughts after people have started doing miles on the V2. I'm sure there are other threads around the Panigale 899/959 so will try to keep it to things that relate to the V2 (hope that's okay Mods!)

    1) The exhaust valve opening and shutting at 3.3k RPM gets annoying, it's great that they managed to get it through noise testing but while running in it's definitely annoying

    2) There is occasionally a 'wave' of exhaust heat through the seat, but not all the time, overall it's cooler than any other Panigale I've had but I wondered if others noticed...

    3) The 'Auto Light' green icon to the right of the dash board is illumitated when the dash is in 'day' mode, but when it switches to night mode (which it does in grey overcase weather) it goes out, and is replaced by an icon in the display, I think that's fairly weird, do others?

    4) The blipper seems to blip the throttle when you clutch downshift, but not all the time. As I'm running it in I tend to do some miles using the blipper and then downshift with the clutch if in the really lower rev range because it 'pushes' you on a bit.

    5) The brakes are super wooden for road use at gentle speeds, they are better when you are up to speed a bit more but during bedding in they are very lacking in feel.

    6) The bike is REALLY tight, it's the tightest bike I've ever had to run in, the gearbox etc is really tight for the first hundred miles and after 200 or so It's starting to loosen up.

Take all the above with a pinch of salt, I'm not crying myself to sleep over them! just little quirks and wondered whether any others had any of the same observations.

I still love the bike, I'm desperate for some decent weather though to actual ride on warm dry roads and not have to wash the bike every time I ride it!!!

  2. In answer to your questions/points:

    1) The exhaust valve opening and shutting at 3.3k RPM gets annoying, it's great that they managed to get it through noise testing but while running in it's definitely annoying - No idea, weather has been shite, and roads are covered in salt still. It's not moved from the garage.

I have a Scrambler 1100 Sport for riding in these conditions ;)

  5. Oh to be that bloody young again.... I did say they are tiny things, just things noticed from the miles I've done, some will be sorted with a first service etc, like the blipping thing, that's what forums are for, sharing knowledge right? or even unqualified drivel.

  7. Yep that will teach me for trying to promote some discussion about Ducati products, instead of just talking about Norton and Brexit. ;-)

  8. TBH I welcome your comments.........but as I said before mine is still sat in the garage after 2 weeks (with 1 mile on the clock) as the roads are shocking and the weather more so.

Hopefully next weeks weather forecast sticks as it's promising to be dry and around 8-12C most of the week. :)

  9. I’m only jesting, it’s the little things that annoy, I’ve sold bikes after one ride because of silly annoying things !

  10. Yeah, I have a Daytona 675 which will be my sacrificial tool to try the backroads to work which as of last week were covered in mud and damaged banks from flooding.

I was out Cheltenham way on Saturday for 90 miles and the roads were all wet and in places mucky and it does bother me but the bikes so great I'm finding it hard not to get out. Also... the 'issue' I didn't mention is the indicator one where all my indicators threw a hissy fit and it ended up back at the dealer, so I really wanted to put some miles on it which I did. I'll probably be more selective this next few weeks.

I also want to get it run in and serviced before May as we are supposed to be heading to Scotland, which at the mo seems a struggle.
