It’s here! My 750ss ‘project’ has landed. It’s only covered 12000 miles from new and has been off the road a couple of years, so will need full recommissioning. Loads of paperwork including the original pre-delivery checklist, genuine workshop manual, original spare key still has the plastic on! Number plate is original and have receipts from the dealer in their branded plastic wallet. They still exist but sadly are no longer a Ducati dealer. Plan so far is to get her running, then replace all the fluids, check brakes, new belts, new tyres (existing ones have loads of tread but could be years old). This weekend will be general clean up, charge the battery, clean the tank out, strip carbs and see what time is left. Bits to source at mo - full service kit, tyres, Sure the list will grow! Not sure what tyres to go for, it won’t cover big miles or be ridden in winter so happy to sacrifice longevity for grip.
Just checked the tyre codes - they were made in 2003!!! I was going to change them anyway so had budgeted for a new pair.
Congrats. Be careful if you have to deal with the DVAL about sending them any of your original paperwork. My previous owner sent some original recipts to sort a short VIN & engine number (last 6 digits rather than full code which sometimes throws up problems when someone does a vehicle status check) and they binned it. Cheers Gaz
Thankfully previous owners were on the ball and it has a full current v5. My experience of the DVLA is pretty poor to say the least so I wouldn’t buy anything without current V5 anymore. The previous owner inherited it from his Dad who bought it to look at as much as anything I think. It was MoTed just over a year back but has only covered 250 miles since 2005.
