Italian Agv

  1. I've been offered a brand new in the box agv sv from a company near me for a very good price. The only thing that's a little puzzling is that they don't have the gold British standard sticker on them. Would you buy one ? The company mainly sell aftermarket car accessories and seem to trade mostly on line. They tell me they are for the Italian market (kind of bizarre as that's where they made) and they have my size in stock and will be fine over here but I'm not sure. I've only ever had one crash in 25 years of riding and was wearing a agv at the time and it held up rather well considering it was around 5years old at the time. You can buy the stickers on line but what I would like to know is basically is there some kind of test they have to pass which will make them stronger for the UK market? After all,if there ok for Italians then there ok for us right? Or wrong?

  2. With the exception of the US and Japan markets, helmets sold for the EU market meet the same standard. The ACU sticker is not a measure of safety, merely a standard recognised for race use. If you do not do track days it is not an issue, if you do, some organisers expect the sticker which incidentally can be purchase separately. Andy

  3. I have an AGV SV and it had a gold sticker. It's not like they make them any different for differing markets so you know if one passes, they'll all pass.

If you get it, straight away look for a darker internal sun visor as it's simply not dark enough to stop glare on those mornings where the sun is low and bright.
