Italian princess doesn't like the rain!

  1. Well on our way back tonight from squires in the rain and about 10 minutes from home, just approaching the roundabout and thought mmm bike doesn't seem as responsive? Got over the roundabout and my bike just died. Stopped on the side of the road and waited for butch to realise I was no longer behind him....it seemed like forever. Anyway he eventually turned around! He checked the bike and she just didn't want to fire so butch rode home and picked up the car and knocked on the neighbours door for his battery charger....whilst he's doing this i decided to push the bike up further near the light as it was pitch black, stopped after a lot of huffing and puffin then a car pulled up at this point and I then realised it wasn't butch a bloke got out and asked if I was ok, turned out he was a biker himself..he offered to wait and offer me some protection from the traffic which I thought was very kind although I was slightly nervous, next thing the police turned up, asked if I was ok and I explained the bike had died and was waiting for my other half to return, they said they were worried that I had had a spill and they waited, said they would put the bike in the back of the van but there wasn't enough room! Eventually butch turned up with our neighbour and they tried to fire the bike up she eventually ticked over so butch rode her a short distance with me in front and our neighbour behind and then she died again....tried to fire her up again but she decided enough was enough!! So the three of us then shifted loads of kit about in the back of the van to make room for my mardy princess....we lifted the bike into the van kin hell those things weigh a ton and set off home butch sat on her and having to go with the van on the corners and roundabouts!! Anyway she is now back home still mardy and I'm not a very happy bunny!! Apart from that the ride out was pretty good!!!
Note to self never take her out in the rain again she doesn't like getting her shoes wet!!! Miserable bitch!! Can't thank our neighbour enough for helping us out tonight! That's the sort of neighbours we all need!!! Also the kind bloke that stopped (even though I was a little nervous!!)

  2. Is princess going on a diet then...

  3. You're not having much fun at the moment Emm :frown:

Wish I could have come out last night but we have visitors over for the weekend. Hopefully Monday will be nice and we can all get out again :upyeah:

  4. They hate rain , cold , hot, ...
They like you to lavish gifts on them and they bleed you dry!
    Glad your ok.

Mine ages ago locked up on a dual carriageway.
    Wouldn't go back or forward.
Biker stopped for me and dragged me and bike sideways out of harms way.
He then rode home got tools and I rode home with no back brake.
I was nervous when chap followed me home
    He. Was just being kind

  5. :-( that is just damn bad luck Emm, hope it's nothing too serious and you're back on board soon. Aren't you off to Cadwell this weekend?

  6. I doubt she will be in this pissy wet we currently have here :-/

  7. Sun's out here!! Mind you I don't expect it to last :-( just hope it's not too wet on Sunday and Monday as it gets quite boring sitting under the arch waiting for some dry weather so we can actually do some archery.

  8. My 748's starter solenoid did not like the damp & wet,the bike would not tick over when you slowed down or at traffic lights, after a good seeing too with WD40 was fine after that. It is under the right land fairing and is exposed to crud , may be worth looking ?

  9. Have been caught out in a couple of near tropical downpours recently and the 1098 never missed a beat. Every time though my hearing goes up a notch waiting for something to change in the noise. Well done Mr. Italian electric man.

    Regards Steve

PS. Bet someone is going to tell me the loom is made somewhere else?

  10. Is there anything that can be done to stop them playing up when its wet?

  11. Yup.....leave them in the garage till its dry.

  12. lol... Cant say that when ya racing one.

  13. Just race in the dry rounds.....mind with the weather in this country a one race series would by quite limiting I suppose

  14. Did 80 miles on my 748 in poring rain on the way back from the IOM and never missed a beat. When ever I go near the electrics I always give things a good spray with ACF 50.

  15. My former 999S used to suddenly lose all power in the wet when you gave it a big handful. Not systematically, of course (that would have been too easy).

This made a couple of overtakes very interesting: draw level with car then engine chokes.
Enjoyed it I did not. One of the reasons I chopped it in for a new one (whose only wet weather foible is for the speedo to flash up random numbers and pretend you are covering all sorts of miles that you're not.).
