1200 It's Corroding !!!!

  1. Yes it's happened it's corroding from under me despite liberal use of AC50 and other rust banishing things. The question is has anyone stripped the clutch cover and the likes, and had then successfully powdered coated or that water transfer thing. Or is it worth a out of warranty claim which was up October 2016. Just as an aside see they featured second last in a reliability survey in MCN, comforting isn't it.

  2. Depending on usage I think most bikes will corrode if getting spanked through the winter.

My mates 6 month old GS has signs of corrosion already

  3. All metals want to return to their natural state, iron oxide (rust) in the case of steel. The fear of this is what makes companies sell corrosion preventers that probably do very little.

  4. They came last in the survey so much for top end bikes. My wife's ER6f now 6 yrs old only a small bit of corrosion on rear wheel adjuster both her and mine subject to the riggers of the Scottish weather the joys of Ducati ownership [emoji23]

  5. My multi was awful. They won't entertain a cosmetic warranty claim either so I'd get it sprayed

  8. Mine is on its second winter riding all the way through with a home done ACF coating and no corrosion at all on the parts you are citing (or anywhere else obvious apart from the usual surface stuff on the cat and pipe)...... i have a small pump up garden sprayer in the garage that i spray the brakes, forks, casings etc with cold water to rinse off any salt when i come home each night...takes less than a minute to go round the bike but must help

  9. condensation own your garage will kill it dead. Been there. Done that. :)

  10. No obvious signs of stone chips it's coming through the powder coat which would indicate poor prep from the word go [emoji35]

  11. mine was bubbling underneath the engine casing coat. No chipping, just poor prep like you say.

  12. Bikes always rinsed down and dried after a run in the winter and given a spray with Scottoiler stuff so apart from chucking the wife Oot of bed and putting it there instead I'm stuck with it. But it also worth mentioning that the wheel which are not made by Ducati are in good nick so still think it's down to poor manufacturing rather than neglect

  13. that fs365 muck is rubbish imo

  14. Bikes winter prepped with AC50 then just use FS365 after washing like all these things some good some bad reports

  15. I have a 10 year old Aprilia Tuono with no rust and very little tarnish anywhere, its as much about the owner as well as the product and environment. Your ER6 is testimony to this.

  16. I may be wrong as don't ride in winter but I thought the idea of ACF50 was you didn't wash it off till spring?

  17. Its meant to survive normal washing and rinsing [emoji848]

  18. Thats the idea but a rinse down to remove fresh salt wont remove it .... it also needs topping up in places over the winter. I used to leave my GS looking like a moto cross bike all winter but with the Multi i cant look at it being that manky so i clean down the plastics as they dont require ACF coating ;)

  19. Something I was told, always use cold water to wash a salt encrusted bike, hot water just aids the corrosion process.
