Looks like the reason there's no Jamie Witham at the TT is that he just had a bout of chemotherapy. Wishing him a full recovery as to me he's the best thing about the BSB commentary team and makes listening to Matt Roberts bearable, just!!!!!
Oh Bum !!! I wondered why he wasn't in the TT team, hope he gets through this and returns to our screens, he's a good laugh and I enjoy his commentary.
I remember donkey's years ago doing a Superbike magazine track weekend with him and Trevor Nation, Jamie was riding the Ducati 916 which had just come out, that shows you how long ago it was! As well as being a mega talented rider he sure was one funny guy, had everyone in stitches at night in the hotel bar with his crazy tales, just such great company to be with. Fantastic commentator on TV as well, very knowledgeable and in tune with the riders, always a good watch. Get well soon Jamie, we need you back on the gogglebox asap mate!
If you missed it last night on itv4 then there was a show called Superbikes, when Britain ruled the world, foggy and Jamie are in the programme a lot, funny bloke's both of them. I hope he copes well and beats it once again, best wishes https://www.itv.com/hub/superbikes-when-britain-ruled-the-world/2a1853a0001 to keep up, here is his twitter and he makes the mention of his treatment on the 1st june entry https://twitter.com/jimwhit69?lang=en
Been running into him in the bar and at breakfast in the hotel at Brands on BSB weekends for years. Always happy to stop and chat or accept you into the conversation if you know someone in the group. He can be a little distant in the morning but that isn't unusual after a night on the beer . Andy
I suspected this when Steve Parrish commented (on the TT coverage) that Jamie was not well at the moment. In my opinion, Jamie is by far the best racing commentator and is also one of the most pleasant individuals you could hope to meet. I'm sure that most of the motorcycling world is rooting for him. I certainly am.
