Had a great trackday at Donington yesterday but had a couple of ham fisted missed gears. And the horrible mechanical violence noises that come with them. I decided to change the oil today and have a butchers at the magnetic sump plug whilst I was at it. The plug felt dubiously tight as I removed it. After cracking it loose its usually finger tight to remove. I also noticed my oil level was down so I whipped out the strainer that shields the oil feed suction. And this is what I found..... Whaddaya reckon?? Knackered transmission or engine... Or both. Eeek.
I see it as a good excuse to spunk some pesky dosh on a full fat rebuild... Bang goes the fancy Panarai I had in mind.
I'd be having more paddys than 60yr old hooker on Belfast high st if that came out of my motor. Then be bunging lots of alcohol down my neck
Doin the alcohol bit now. Gonna watch champions league and have a few beers. It was pulling like a train yesterday. I was even cursing it for trying to spit me off everytime I gassed it coming onto start/finish at Donington. I'm glad in a way I've caught it before a rod came through. Now then, race pistons, blue print, gas flowed heads..... Suggestions? But I don't want a 240bhp fire breathing monster that requires a rebuild every 3 trackdays!!
Definitely bits of oil control ring and piston ring. I can't tell from the picture what the alloy parts are, piston? Either way it needs a full strip!
One worth speaking to louigi about for sure, as CJS can do his bit while its there too on gas flowing.
I thought they were what held net curtains up in Grandma's windows...... .....and then I saw bits of skirt and they definitely aren't Grandma's.....
