Jhp Clutch Slave Cylinder Not Working Properly?

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by THJ, Jun 1, 2014.

  1. I have a jhp clutch slave cylinder on my 749r that works perfectly.

Just brought another one for my 1098s Tricolore and getting neutral is a complete bitch! I can only get neutral when the pazzo lever is on it's furthest out setting?

Has anyone else had this issue?

  2. Insufficient travel, is all the air out of it?

  3. It has been fitted by a professional so I am pretty certain yes.

The pro said on some bikes because of the shorter travel that's why the lever needs to go further out. Was told it was not bike specific but luck of the draw.

  4. Altering length of pushrod may help, although it can be time consuming.

  5. I have an Oberon one on my muttley and that only works OK if the Pazzo lever is fully out. Anything shorter and getting neutral is a sod.

  6. The oberon one I bought came with a small extension piece (for push rod) for certain models.

  7. So to get the best out of it a different master is required? (sorry if I sound thick!)

  8. Does the 749r 2006 have a different length push rod compared to the 1098s tricoloure 2907? I thought they were same part number OEM clutch slave cylinders...

  9. I have a jhp slave and I couldn't get neutrol as there was air in the system. I've spoken to a few people who have had the same problem.

  10. Law of physics = you don't get something for nothing.
Softer feel from the slave = more action required from the master.
Even when properly bled, it will behave in the same way

I've put oberon slave on my 848, and have noticed more lever movement required. My personal preference is not to sacrifice lever movement distance for desired clutch feel... I want to be sure everything is fully disengaged before I attempt to move the selector drum with my big left foot...
