Jonathan Rea in for injured Stoner

Discussion in 'Racing & Bike Sport' started by XxAnthxX, Aug 27, 2012.

  1. Jonathan Rea set to stand in for injured Casey Stoner at Misano and Aragon.

Hopefully another Brit in the shop window for a future ride

  2. He tested the bike today at brno but struggled with the tyres!

  3. Great, let's hope he doesn't start taking people out, like he does in WSBK.

  4. Rea is a great rider and deserves the chance :upyeah:

  5. Just my opinion, like all the other comments here, but Rea is a hot head. He may win the odd race, but never a championship, as his ambition definitely outweighs his skill. I've lost count of the times his over ambitious moves have taken others out - must be at least 3 times this season alone.

  7. Yes his times are around 2 secs down on the others, but it does take a little time finding out what you can do. Im pretty sure he wouldnt have been pushing crazy hard as I doubt it would have gone down especially well if he smashed up Stoners bike

  8. Thats a good first showing ,dont forget those other riders have raced there the previous day ,and got their set ups.
New to the tyres and cabon discs and a non familiar bike not to mention the different company your on track with,I'd say he did very well.

  9. And I thought it was just me who had noticed this!

  10. Were the tyres attached to the bike? If they were then I'd have said he struggled with the bike

  11. I'm right with you on this. I was at Donnington watching him take out Haslam....I couldn't believe it!

  12. well we'll see how good he is because he's doing the next two rounds

  13. His only chance of knocking someone else off will be when they come round and lap him!

  14. My thoughts exactly.

Surely they could have got someone else?

  15. Honda should of given the ride to one of the CRT riders.

  16. Can think of ohers who would have either deserved or would be bett bet...but alas none ride Honda and tha probably was the gimme on this.

Hotheaded bighead - impression given after seeing interviews following two takes puts before the Chas one this year

  17. Or Rossi lol

  18. Honda have a crt bike in the gresini team.. pirro i think ?

  19. I would have put Chaz Davies on it

  20. Chaz Davies is contracted to a team that run Aprilla, which used to run Yamaha so there's no way Davies was getting that ride no matter how talented he may be. Rea got the ride as he has a history with Honda, which personally I think is great news for him. People call him hot headed but I think that is more of an agressive streak that is needed to win races. From what I saw on the TV coverage and from comments made at the time, he only dived down the inside of the two BMWs at Donnington as Melandri had pushed them both wide leaving a gap. If he didn't go for it, he shouldnt be racing. How many passive easy going racers (on track not in person - Checa is so laid back its not funny) win. Very very few. I would love to see Rea do well, but he wont as he doesnt have to time put in on the bike. He'll beat the CRT bikes, but sadly not very many prototypes, if any
