  1. Hi All

Bought my Ducati a few months ago, still not had the chance to put many miles on her as I bought it pretty much as the weather turned!! Joined the 851/888 forum pretty much straight away and as they seem a pretty good bunch decided to find other Ducati forums and here I am.

Bought on a whim when it came up on eBay for what I thought was a bargain, and so far I'm more than happy with the bike. Have done some tinkering and it's a bit labour intensive when you're used to Hondas, but that's part of the fun. Trying to get it fully serviced and sorted over the winter ready for Spring - it needs very little but I also have very little time. Hopefully there'll be some southern gatherings next year to come along to.

  2. welcome.

where are you thinking of for service? wm snells and motorapido normally have good winter deals on, may be worth checking out

  3. Thanks for the welcome bradders.

I do all of my own servicing....well as far as I can. I've already changed the oil and the coolant so OK there. Next job is the belts which scares me, so I'm getting a hand from someone sensible for the first time. This is the hold up as trying to find a time we're both around and it isn't chucking down is proving tricky. It's not that I won't ride in the rain so much as what's the point? Also I'm over 6 foot and find I need to sit right at the back of the seat and in wet weather gear I slide forward every time I brake which kills my wrists in short order. I'm in no rush as I want it sorted for spring.

Once the belts are done I'll move on to change brake/clutch fluid and giving the clutch a clean out. The wheels will be returned to the original black over winter too, which will lead to new wheel bearings. Then I'll just give it a once over to spot anything else but I'm pretty sure it's OK as it rides nice (and my someone sensible will no doubt test ride to check it out for me as well).

  10. Hello and welcome.

  11. Thanks for all the welcomes and compliments.

keninsussex - I'm in the Eastbourne area, so not very far from you. Would be good to see some of the other Ducatis in the area, as you say I've probably left it a bit late in the year now that it's November! Let's hope for a short winter.

    Cheers
    Paul

(See....worked out that I need to put my name to avoid the Dave and Ken allegations!!)

  15. ooooh, pretty!
If you want another reccomendation for a fettler, I use Alec at Ducati Proteam in [one of the Medway towns] - I think he does a discount for DOCGB members and is au fait wth 851s (used to spanner for one of the bigger teams that ran them)
