hi did 75 miles on my 996r yesterday and bike just cut out and stopped, checked i got fuel, engine turned over but would not start sat down had a drink 10 minutes later bike starts ,great carry on to wales arrive with no problems got up this morning to travel home 91 miles latter bike stops , sit and wait 2 minutes try to start her she fires up on way home any ideas as to what the problem may be.
Try the two little black relays down by the battery, had similar problem on my 998s a few years back. Very cheap even from a main dealer and worth carrying spares on the bike as can be sorted in less than 10 min at side of the road with no tools needed.
Deffo sounds like an electrical problem, could be just a poor connection, very difficult to fix if its not broken. Best thing to do is undo electrical connections, clean lubricate and re-fit. Hopefully that should cure it. Had a similar problem with my 996 a couple of years ago. Cleaned all the connections and never had a problem since.
