Yep, it becomes a bit of a loony machine when you get to 8000rpm+. I thought the 1199 lacked grunt compared with my 1098 which has a lot at lower rpm but the 1199 more than makes up for it higher up!
I don't miss the low down grunt of 1198 as the 1199 dumps it all at 8000rpm. Pops me eyeballs to the back of me head.
If it is not now fitted as standard, get the DP discounted 41 tooth rear sprocket/ / chain upgrade. Well worth it! Welcome back some low down grunt feeling.
I'm going to look into this, I really like the brutal acceleration from 4K on the 1098, the problem with getting all the power at 8000rpm on the queens highway is you're soon doing 150mph which is apparently frowned upon. However I don't want that round town and in traffic savagery back that the 1098 had.
