Karl Harris dies in Superstock TT Three time British Supersport champion and BSB regular Karl Harris died during Tuesday’s Superstock TT. The Sheffield rider was involved in an incident on the mountain section of the course around the 26th mile point (Joey’s) on the second lap of the four lap race. 34 year-old Harris, well known by his nickname ‘bomber’, made his TT debut in 2012 after a successful career on the British scene, and had a best result of 16th in last year’s equivalent Superstock race. His Supersport titles came in 2001, 2003 & 2004 before moving up to the main BSB Superbike series in 2005. The ACU passed on their deepest sympathy to Karl's family and friends. Gary Thompson, TT Clerk of the Course, ACU Events, said: "Karl was one of the great characters in the race paddock. His infectious enthusiasm and sense of humour lit up many race meetings. He was a hugely talented racer and will be sorely missed." The Coroner of Inquests has been informed and an investigation into the circumstances of the accident is underway. Absolutely gutted to read this, just seen the news article now in IOMTT. When it was announced the Karl was to come to the TT he had people knocking him but in all fairness he turned up and went quietly about his business without any pomp and ceremony and did well and so it continued. I think it was the 2011 TT when he won Radio TT's rear of the year and that was a complete laugh. I then met call on a more one to one level when he came and supported an event at Bikestop in Stevenage while I was working there and was a real legend, had plenty of time to chat and made time to talk to all the customers that came in to see him. A real loss to the motorcycling world and along with another true gent Bob Price it is a dark week for the TT but tomorrow that show will go on as I am sure they would have wanted it to. RIP Karl and Bob, your passing leaves a very big hole. May you both rest in peace.
Yes two more lost in 2 days, and I do watch the TT in amazement ,the speed is something I just cannot compute, but it gives me the biggest thrill to watch,so I take my hat off to all at the TT,and RIP Karl and Bob, sincere condolences to their family and loved ones. God bless em.
Saw him wandering around the paddock at the WSBK Donnington Park a few weeks ago and wondered what he was up to. His crash at Thruxton where a flying bike hit him and where he climbed out of fencing, spitting gravel out of his helmet where his visor should have been made him appear as tough as they come. RIP
RIP Bomber. bet he's up there now with Bob Price n Simon Andrews seeing who can brake the latest. God speed.
In typical style, the mainstream media have picked this up. They only care when we lose someone. and that makes my blood boil. They should be reporting the good as well as the bad! Sleep well my brother
