Ok, So this keyless start thing is a great idea but why oh why have Ducati not made it possible to attach anything to the key ???(or vice versa) That said my last one for the Multi fell apart after a ham fisted drop at the petrol station, not ideal. So I found the solution, a rather smart looking CNC aluminium outer case complete with a loop for a lanyard or keyring, excellent, bit steep at £20 but a small price to pay for handiness. It arrived, fitted perfectly, looks like Optimus Prime's k**b now but still its all functional. So I go to fuel up on Saturday and guess what... IT GETS STUCK ON THE FLAP ON THE FUEL TANK SO YOU CANT TURN THE KEY!? seriously!? you just cant win sometimes...
I'm sure I used a lanyard on the Diavel key last year, but I could be wrong! The Multi 1200DVT that I rode this year definitely had a loop to put a lanyard on though as I kept it in my jeans pocket with the lanyard looped through the belt loop.
i removed the original ducati locking petrol cap on my Carbon white and fitted an austin Racing quick release cap , saves load of time in petrol station faffing around trying to get key out of pocket
I split my key and fit a lanyard by hooking the rope bit onto one of the locking hooks. Seems secure and have had no issues whatsoever (apart from the rubber bits coming of the key and looking shit).
