1260 Key Fob Battery Life ...

  1. just replaced the original CR2032 battery in my 1260s Multi's key fob.

    not bad ... 4.5 years.

i seem to recall having to replace the battery in my 2010 Multi 1200s every 2 years. so either
CR2032 batteries have better chemistry ... or perhaps i just got a good one this time, and shite ones in the past ;-)

  2. Mine started to complain about being low whilst away on tour. Only refused to work once whilst away and was easily sorted by introducing the fob to the symbol on the right fairing in-fill.

Got home and put the bike in the garage and the next time I went to start/unlock it it was dead. had forgotten and it took a bit of head scratching and charging of the bike's battery, which is always on a tender anyway, until the penny dropped. Changed battery and everything returned to normal. This is the second time that I've changed the fob battery. The first time the dealer did it at my first annual service 3+ years ago.

  3. Quality of battery makes a huge difference.

There’s lots of instances where paying more for a branded item is just a rip-off as it’s the same product, from the same factory, in different packaging. But I have purchased a cheap pack of lithium coin cell batteries in the past and found they run down ridiculously fast - the much higher priced Duracell version lasts for years.

(edit I should have caveated this in case anyone takes this as a recommendation for Duracell. In the case i’m talking about I had to buy an overpriced Duracell from a CoOp when a newly changed cheap key fob battery let me down - yes it’s much better, but other good brands often make just as good and even better batteries for less money.
If anyone is looking for a recommendation for batteries, mine would be Panasonic - they make great coin cells and their Eneloop Pro series rechargeable batteries are fantastic.)

  5. I would like to add to this, the Duracell doesn’t work in my (2012) key fob and it’s not the only one my dealer has come across. Found Energizer to be reliable and Panasonic. Andy

  7. i do as well as a spare CR2016 for the Sena RC 4 remote control for my Schuberth/Sena helmet comm system.

  8. Just bought a pack of 2 Duracells from tesco, dont work, still have to place the key on the dash to start. The choice was £5 for 2 Duracells or £7.50 for 4 Energiser, i made the wrong choice.

  9. and now that i upgraded my helmet to a Schuberth C5, i keep a spare CR2016 for the remote that is on the helmet ...

  10. Never had a keyless motorbike, but had my car 7 years and never changed the battery in the key. Do motorbike keys drain faster?

  11. you will find out sooner or later ;-)

  12. Just changed mine , 2018 bike so guessing not been changed before, top tip ( above) about carrying a spare battery, I used the one I found in my box of assorted batteries....almost certainly not branded...

  13. So, how do you change the coin cell in the remote fob.?
    I’ve v4s multi.
    Cheers

  14. Just found out while fiddling with it, so just answered my own question

  15. +1 for Eneloop - we use them (AA and AAA) in everything. Although mostly for TV remotes/Game controllers, we still have some from about 7 years ago and they still hold a good charge.
