Hi all, my collection of keys (disk-lock / house / helmet bag) are scratching my lovely new CF bits a lot!! Can anyone recommend a good pouch / holder to keep them all in to help stop this? I know the easy way would be to separate the keys but then I'd forget / lose them all the time!!
If you loose keys etc can you leave your house keys with a neighbour who you trust so that's one less to worry about.
Done that already I'm thinking separating the keys but attaching the others to my main jacket somehow, maybe using your lanyard idea...
I was told in no uncertain terms by my dealer to keep the Ducati's key separate to avoid scratches. It's always had a rubber or foam rubber key ring too. What's wrong with you man? Is your mind a tea-strainer? Bike key lives on the key rack with the others, or in the bike when it's being used or in my pocket when I've arrived somewhere. What's hard about that?
I lock my house keys in the garage whilst out on my bike, so there's only the one to go with my bike key Also with being a 'responsible' key holder at work, I decided to have a carabina and it makes for easy clipping and unclipping of excess bloody keys depending on what I'm doing and where I'm going and how I get there
Bike key is always on its own... House / garage keys are separate, kept in pocket.. Never lost or forgotten a key yet!
There is a small space under the seat , I`m sure you could keep the keys in there but as Glid says, keep the bike key separate so you dont lock that one under the seat too .
I've ordered a lanyard so will see how I get on with that. Thanks for the suggestions so far, thought I'd ask in case there was one out there that you all use. This is not for pleasure-rides, it's for my commute every day so there are other things to remember like train ticket / work badge / etc etc.
+1 for the bike key. Far less strain on the barrel and you don't scratch the bike. I try to keep my keys and anything heavy or sharp like keys or a disc lock well away from me. The last thing I want to happen in a crash is to be stabbed by my own door keys When I don't have a tank bag, I use a Kreiga Kube
Make a small checklist to put on the kitchen - one of those boards they sell for the purpose or just a post-it stuck to the calendar. List the things you need to remember and check you have them before leaving the house. Simples. Checklists are massively useful. If you have a couple for trips away by bike or by car or plane it really takes the drudgery out of packing.
