So I took the monster for a blast this morning to diagnose the running issues. Got to one of my favoured play grounds and dropped into the T-junction. I'm obviously too used to the clearance on the 748 because my knee went straight into the black stuff. No biggie I thought, but then almost immediately followed by toe which almost never happens and then peg which was unexpected and unnerving to say the least! Thought I'd gone for a split second but all was well so I proceeded to laugh like a loon. Moral of the story? always remember what you're riding!
Peg is never good. Peg down round clearways at Brands on the 848. Certainly sat me up. Thought it was going to go Knee, Toe, Peg, elbow, head... Ouch
I thought the same with additional thought of how do explain to Ed that I just binned the bike I sold him while trying to solve a relatively small problem Surprising how many thoughts you can have in under a second. If only my brain was working that quick a little before the corner
On the Streetfighter, I always get my toe down well before my knee. I've never been able to work it out. Either the pegs are low, I have a weird riding style or feet like Sideshow Bob
Most have their feet rather than pegs, and often due to foot position. Takes a fair amount even om a moster to do the pegs. Also some roundabliut amd past turns cam have a camber that does it. I had it yesterday, about 90, behind Kirky , but was road rather than heroics
I remembermy brother telling peg down stories and thinking it was crazy. First time I've actually done it and I'm glad monster has fold up pegs otherwise I'd be buggered. I read a post (maybe on here) some guy saying pegs down on 748, most people called him a liar but if it is true that would be terrifying, must be making some progress for that to happen!
Used to pull the pegs up to the vertical and plant my toes on the ends on the XJ900F. It was that or go through a couple of sets of footpegs a year. No real peg problems on the 750 or the 999.
Like I say, pegs down even on a sports bike is, unlikely really on the road umless the camber etc is right. Some roundabout and link road/sLip roads are perfect. But if you are leaning that far, its a good bet that by changing body position a bit your kneee would have been down way before
