Hi; I have a Monster 796 in Silk Black and I have found the the quality of the paint is terrible - I have had both tank panels replaced after I took the bike on a Euro trip and after 2000 miles the paint was already badly scratching by my knees (my old 695 lasted over 6000 miles without showing any signs on the paint) With this in mind, I want to see if I can find any knee pads to protect the paint. Anyone out there have any advice? Thanks in advance
I had the same issue, dealer got them resprayed and had extra layers of laquer applied and it's been fine since.
To solve the same problem and give me a more secure feeling when moving around on the bike I have just bought some Techspec pads from ebay. Really impressed with them. Found them from this link originally Tech-Spec Tank Pad for 696 - Ducati Monster Forums: Ducati Monster Motorcycle Forum ordered them through ebay, they come in 3 different finishes and thicknesses, I went for the thinnest high fusion finish and am really happy with them.
I emailed Hillcroft about these (actually the clear ones). Just wanted to check that they were for a M and not the HYP. Id like to see what they look like fitted before I bought any.
