A bit surprised at Maverick tbh. Aprilia had saved his career and given him a competitive bike. Now up against Acosta and Basti. Obviously money talks.
Why would Vinales go from a factory aprilia to statellite ktm? Surely not just £££? Very odd move (for both parties), can’t see him anything other than the slowest ktm and ripe for losing his seat at the end of 2025.
two things, I think KTM are running four factory bikes. Was it ‘Asparagus’ (sorry, always had trouble with his name..) retiring, or Martin arriving? Weird rider Vinales though. Ultra fast some days, style a bit like Lorenzo used to be. Other days, a disaster and just does not show up. As long as he does not spit the dummy like he did with Yamaha. He was ultra lucky to get another shot in motogp. A better match would have been Marini. I think he was over eager with his move to Honda. What is it about factory rides, when it is clearly early in the riders career that is so appealing?
The arrogance of youth (of which i still had) and make the money while you can and worry about the rest afterwards, it can be a very short career!
At least silly season is nearly over and hodgy and gav can concentrate on telling us all how excited they are for next season, halfway through this one.
Do we know what they offered Martin cos we know what they offered Fabio earlier this year (4m euros/year)?
I am not a big FQ fan but on his day is a great rider - but with FQ already signed, how many of these are space fillers till 2026?
