Well, I finally wore her down. Gonna be looking for another 1100 Hypermotard so the project supermoto is going up for sale. Lost count of the build at about 5.5k (I have a couple of inches thick of receipts to with the bike....we all like pics so heres a load.... Started off like this... Then turned into this... Which went to this.... And ended up being this... Currently (as of today) its getting a three phase upgraded stator to handle all the new electronics (heated grips being the main thing). It has an rfid ignition, digital clocks, built in alarm. The engine has been taken back to the crankcases and rebuilt with a list of upgraded internal engine parts added to ensure reliability. All bearings have been replaced, the whole front end is from a 640 supermoto so its specifically built for road use. Ill go through as much as I can remember.... Frame and forks recoated with a 2 coat powder coat (base weather resistand undercoat) and matt black topcoat. Excel talon wheels (tyres as good as new) just run in. Fully rebuilt engine and coated in Xylan (Resistant to all weather, salt etc etc) Hel brake lines used throughout Oberon clutch slave (with hel line) Brembo RCS15 brake master Complete motogadget wiring loom (RFID ignition, munit central controller, motogadget switchgear.) - munit fully programmable. Clocks also programmable. 500exc headlight and 450 smr front mudguard Entire 640 front end Clutch master internal refurbed. All bare alloys have been treated at AquaBlast, Rads, fork legs, kick start, stand etc etc Samco rad hose set 3 phase 250w upgraded stator. Stock is 100w Carb electrostatically cleaned and rebuilt with new seal kit. Custom made Titanium shock mount bolts. Essentially its an old school supermoto that's had a present day twist and brought electronically up to date. EXC's normally come with bugger all in the way of ignition, clocks etc etc. This is the total opposite. Ive built it with durability in mind. There are literally no more mild steel or anodised bolts left on it....you could ride it through the shittiest weather chuck it in the garage come back a week later wipe it over and itll come up new... Looking for 4.5k or maybe a deal if someone has got an hyper 1100 evo sp or the like they want to part with...
Looks great my friend, I recon it was worth the hard work and wait for the quality parts, I suppose as with all wife's decisions you have to take advantage when you can!! Sounds a bit of a deal though when I remember all the work you've done? Someone's getting a brand new unique piece of work for a lot less than your valuation ????
Cheers - exactly that - I don't think what ive done has ever been done on a 525 let alone another supermoto before. Youll pay 3.5k for a tarted up 525 but no SM ive ever seen before has had the engine treatment (and all the other stuff that's been coated in xylan) that ive had done.
