I think its safe to say its been a crazy first few days. The live shots of Jumbo finishing in the pitch black and pissing rain at the TTT on day one will stay with me for a long time. The absolute drama (and a photographers dream id imagine ) Remco terrorising Vingy and the rog yesterday. We love Remco in this house. Some questionable rider safety decisions by the organisers, especially yesterday's finish and in the final part of todays sprint. Another sprint finish expected tmrw.
Fair play to Dan Lloyd on Eurosport today too, picked the winner before we even got going. It would be like picking a grand national winner for me.
I just look forward to what sights the Quest coverage will bring. Tonight they were talking about who ‘had the legs’. Thought the answer was obvious.
Back to back sprint wins for Kaden Groves. Impressive but i still miss Cav Mountain stage today with the finish at nearly 2000m above sea level, rather them than me. Stage 6 - La Vall d'Uixó > Pico del Buitre. Observatorio Astrofísico de Javalambre - La Vuelta 2023
Not caught up with the stages yet but have the highlights recordered. this grand tour is always bonkers
Probably the greatest/most controversial stage of the year today. Make sure you watch highlights if you haven't seen it already.
They were completely slating him on eurosport for at least an hour afterwards. JV and the team managers interview after the stage finished didnt do much to quell it either lol Vingy saying he "hoped" Sepp would get up the mountain and stay in red and the team manager saying he lost contact with him on the radio because of the conditions (but he knew they'd dropped various other riders around him). Sean Kelly basically said if he was Sepps agent he'd be "straight on the phone to every other team manager tonight offering his services for next year". The drama!!
100% the bastards.! Just look at Sean Kelly's predigree chart on wikipedia, the man knows what he's talking about.
What a great three weeks it’s been and slightly sad it’s ending. Autumn has officially arrived. Hugely enjoyable and probably just behind the giro and ahead of the tdf for drama and entertainment (this year) for me.
I dont blame him, it looked like JV were struggling with team orders at the vuelta, without him adding to the complexity!
