Holiday in LA and slotted a weekend in at Monterey for the Motogp end july can't wait. Anyone been? Got any tips for viewing spots etc?
Went 10 years ago for World Supers, you can get paddock passes which make things better but if not as it's one race I wouldn't watch from the corkscrew as you don't see much and there were no screens when I was there. Turns one and two high on the banking give good viewing and you can appreciate the speed also. Monterey is a great place also, mad busy with bikes over a race weekend too, you'll have a ball... Just make sure you drink lots and cover yourself in sun tan lotion it's well above 100F at that time of year
Go for the Corkscrew. I'd love to see Laguna Seca, please post your pics... Ducatis next big bike shake op is due about then ... who knows. Almost overwhelming. You only have once chance to do this, you can watch the whole race in excruciating detail when you are home, but you only have this chance to see the worlds best go as fast as they can though the Corkscrew. And those first corner antics and tactics are going to be stunning this year. Book your tickets now. Gotta be better than this from 2011 each lap ... That I have to admit is pretty exciting too in its own way, the noise as they rev up for the greenlight overwhelms this guys camera sound recording.
I went in 2008... The year of THAT overtake by Vale at The Corkscrew. Watched qualifying from there which was amazing. For the race we had start line grandstand tickets as me n my mate took the ladies with us. Brilliant place ....can be v cool and misty first thing but then it burns off so factor 30 and lots to drink. Enjoy!
