Can anyone recommend a good lap timer? Those Solo things look pretty trick (270 quid ish). Any good?? I've got an inbuilt lap timer on my bike but it's a fiddly fekkin thing and my scroll button keeps going tits so I'm after an easy peasy stand alone type thing. Ta for any input, cheers Paul.
I've mates using these and rate them: Starlane - Quick shifter, automatic chrono, gear indicator, digital dashboard, quick shift kit, data acquisition system, gps laptimer, gps lap timer, quickshifter, motorbike, kart and car.
Paul, I've been trying to find an earlier post but failed miserably. I have a laptimer you could try before you buy if you are going to Silverstone. When I get home, I'll try and dig it out. Already has a mounting bracket for the R. Andy
I run a starlane stealth v4 Nice and small and easy to hard wire in It auto detects tracks too and flashes up lights when you're improving splits
My egg timer is long gone...sold it to Drinky but alas it was a sun dial he needed Starline and aim both seem pretty good, and hold second hand value too
@Mary Hinge, I have a Starlane Stealth GPS2 you are more than welcome to borrow to see how you get on with that type of lap timer. Andy
A kind offer indeed. Thanks Andy. Trouble is I'm out the country right now and I've no idea when my track day will be. Hopefully Donington in July. This lap timer lark is all Tracksense's fault. They stick a transponder on your bike for lap times, looking at your lap times between sessions is bloody addictive!
If you don't need 0.01 second accuracy, there's a few iPhone and android apps that will do it too Harry's lap timer is a good iPhone app, but bear in mind that an iPhone only updates GPS once per second, so it will sometimes miss the start finish point and throw you out a random 5 minute or 10second lap
GPS Lap Timer being pushed by Parkit. It also has a fancy lean dangle indicator. Speedangle GPS Laptimer – Parkitt Performance Motorcycles
Thanks for the link. An impressive piece of kit indeed but too much data for me, I'd get confused with it all and crash! Great bit of kit for a budding racer but I'm just an ageing track day funster that just likes razzing round and round. Lap timer's just chuck in a bit of fun when there are a few of you. I went for the AIM Solo in the end.
