LCD Clocks Issues

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Ape2Duc, Dec 15, 2012.

  1. Hey all well I have finally taken the plunge and gone for an New ABS model, one of my main concerns is the LCD clocks breaking down and was wondering if there is any preventative maintenance you can do to help. Do we know if their break down is due to moisture increep or are they just a flawed design?

    Regards

  2. nathan, a few had problems but most were ok, i know a mts1200 that has lay outside behind a guys house from he bought it in 2010, and apart from having to get a new battery its still all 100%, clocks as well.

  3. So it's more of a pot luck kinda thing rather than moisture getting inside the clocks?

  4. ye, just ride and enjoy it, too many who own these bikes wait for things to happen that probably never will !!......takes from the enjoyment of ownership in my opinion

  5. Yep I agree mate, got 2 years warranty anyway and I'm so looking forward to getting the bike!

  6. Apparently its an earthing issue. The warning lights glow faintly ie When the indicator flashes then the ABS light glows faintly. Really noticable when its dark. Or when the full beam light is on the indicators are slightly illuminated.

I have the issue, but can live with it. My only concern is if it gets worse...

  7. What year is your bike? Have they been changed under warranty?

  8. My bike is a 2010, and the warranty is now expired. I have a note in my service book that says I had the issue and I hope and trust that Ducati will honour this. Seriously it is "for me" a very minor issue, and as long as it doesnt break completely I can live with it. Exchange would mean setting the clock back to zero, which I didnt want to do.

  9. Had the same problem with my 2010 model. Even though it was out of the Ducati warranty by three months they were changed free of charge through Pro Twins. Yes the clocks can't be changed to the actual mileage but I had it done with just under 7k displayed so the first service indicator should coincide with 7.5k and the 15k will be near to the 7.5k service indicator, I think. The service book has also been signed with the mileage of the bike when the clocks were changed.

  10. My 2011 has the same issue, faint glow of engine warning light when either neutral or indicator lights are on, same as others dealer noticed it when i had anti freeze changed, dont want to change it as it mucks up clocks, however i commented on the 2013 thread that the clocks now no longer dont hold the mileage data on them, instead its on the ECU.

Mileage can be swapped, and i believe PCB can be repaired according to Mark @ Scorpio electronics

  11. The mileage, together with the bike`s VIN number etc is on the 2013 model, stored in all the ECU`s and dashboard. The data can be copyed and transferred into a new unit, should it be necessary to change on ore more of them:smile:
