I've just booked myself onto the course on Friday 25th April after an aborted attempt last year. They've just released the date so there are plenty of spaces on that day if anyone's interested. Its a Dunsfold Aerodrome near Guildford. http://learn2wheelie.co.uk/index.html
Basically the cost of a track day....its a tough choice but the need to be able to pull a wheelie is strong!
Jesus wept. Next you will be piling on the weight and riding around in your jeans and vest and we will be watching you on youtube as you fall off the back like a fat American
Did a wheelie school a few years back on 600 bandit. Teach you the clutch method. Enjoyed but never the same when pulling wheelies on your own bike. My v4 tuono just lifts the front in first three gears on pure power. Even madder if I turn the wheelie control off! Does make me giggle but not something I do all the time.
Don't get me wrong here. I'm not about to start hoiking wheelie up the high street....it just looks like a laugh.
I agree it is a laugh.but I always have it in the back of my mind how it can all go horribly wrong. Yet don't tend to worry when I have it cranked over with me knee dragging on the Tarmac. That makes me giggle as well! The wheelie school is a laugh but after abusing there bikes all day, I still didn't feel compelled to go out and abuse my own.
Wheelies are as cool as. They look great and make you look a proper clever fucker. I love em.... It is a bit scary though practising on a carbon clad 999R, like I did. Dropping it didn't bare thinking about.... I've got a 1098R now and anyone who has one will agree wheelies are part of ownership. You kids be careful now.
Thanks Mary. I was starting to think that some people didnt care for 1 wheeled fun. I'm pretty cautious by nature (Bradders has ridden with (ahead of) me) so the last thing i'll be wanting to do is drop anything. It just looks like fun and I'm too scared to try it on my own bike for learning!
I keep meaning to do one of these courses, the Speed Triple lifts the front end with such ease i would like to have a bit of training on how to hold and control it properly. I test rode an 1198 a few years ago, i couldn't keep the bloody front wheel on the ground on that thing! If nothing else a wheelie course will help with your fine throttle control...
And ffs don't get caught doing them on the roads. You get well a truely rodded. Year ban, 1200 quid fine and test resit is on the cards... Beware.
