Leather For 6ft Plus

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by no-way85, Jul 15, 2016.

  1. As the title suggests, i'm over 6ft, (6'3") and havent had any full leathers for years due to my size.

I do a fair bit of weights and find that I either cant get my arms or legs in, or if I do they're very baggy around the middle. I've tried a few 2 piece options but can't seem to find the right combo. So its been a jacket and hood jeans for me for the past few years. (Hood made some jeans with an extra 2" on the thigh FOC)

Does anywhere make custom suits? Anyone have a similar problem and found a good brand that fits?

  2. I'm not sure who makes the custom suits but Chris at Nine Lives Leathers is the guy we use for all our repairs and alterations and I'm sure he could give you good advice. Mention @MissPineapple and me as he'll know us :)

  3. Dainese now do some special sizes for short or tall people. You can get most of their regular sizes in a short and tall version. At 6ft 4, to get leg length I had to have a huge size set of leathers big enough to get giant haystacks in and then pay to get them altered. Might not help if you have exceptionally big arms for example compared to your overall stature but for generally tall or short people it's a big step forward.

  4. Great thanks, I think i'll pop over to Bike Stop as its local and see if they have the tall versions to try on.

  5. Has anyone ever used Scott Leathers?

  6. BKS in Devon make tailor made leathers. Welcome | BKS Leather

Do not confuse their work with the BKS brand touted by J&S that is a hangover from a tie up between BKS & Frank Thomas years ago and are now made in the Far East somewhere

  7. You could get some of these - but I'm not sure this is the correct way to put them on :)

  8. One of the best in the business

  9. Have you used them? If you got a bespoke set made do you mind me asking how much you paid?

  10. Scott leathers do made to measure. But they're up in teesside area. Otherwise dave the leatherman in Bradford is well respected for alterations.
Also think that held do made to measure. Get geared in Leatherhead and Leeds are the people to speak to about these.
Or crowtree if they're still around

  11. Thanks for that, do you happen to know anyone a bit further south, herts/beds/bucks way?

  12. Not really dealt with many people down south apart from get geared in Leatherhead(too far south?) Also possibly arc-on who you used to be able to get through oval motorcycle center in central London.

  13. I haven't however I know loads that have and swear by them.

  14. Maybe too far south, Harpers in Leigh on Sea in Essex. They used to own Wolf and do still make some suits at their premises. I bought my one piece race suit from them made to measure in 2007. I think I paid about £500 then. I crashed tested it a few times and it stood up well.

I really cant rate her high enough .

  18. I guess it comes down to dough.
Dainese now do bespoke suits at a price.
A Dainese Laguna Seca D1 is approx £800. Custom fit, the same suit is £1500.
Only sold through their premium outlets though.
