Hi everyone I've been thinking of buying some dainese leathers and asked myself if I should go perforated or not. As we all know, British summer doesn't really take us to high temperatures. Still I wouldn't want to take stuff I then end up.not using because of the heat Can you share some thoughts? Thanks
I had a Dainese leather perforated jacket, I think they're great on the hot days or warmer days in traffic but wouldn't buy a set for my only leathers, 2nd set maybe.
If you really want perferated then consider some sort of summer jacket that u can take all the armour out and where over the top or something because the wind really does come through them!!
I use normal non perforated leathers 1 piece, however I have a 2 piece suit and also Dainese body armour, when temp gets over 23 I use the body armour and trousers from 2 piece and to keep the flies off I throw a light fleece over the top.
I bought a motor cross armoured shirt for the really hot days so I can throw a swear shirt over the top. Not had the opportunity to try it yet
This is what I used couple of times last year, even used it a couple of mornings going to work. Wear with leather trousers and yeah fleece or sweat shirt over the top.
When I bought it 5yrs ago they were about £280, I think you can pick them up for £200 or less now (new). I am in P&H at the weekend I will have a look.
Just checked Dainese shop Manchester they do two types. First link is same as mine £305 2nd link is £230. They may seem expensive but they are no dearer than a bike leather jacket and you get a fair bit of protection. Shame it doesn't make me look like Ringo or Paul and also give me there wealth, not that I would know what to do with it. Superleggera, Desmosedici, maybe a 749/999r
I have 2 sets of dainese aspide leathers. Perforated and unperforated. There's a big big difference. In the evening or days when the weather's marginal the perforated ones are often too breezy (cold) to wear. They are very effective I would say. The perforations do very little if anything to cool you once off the bike and so the benefit of them is only felt whilst moving and to my mind the general cooling effect of the air once you are moving is sufficient to keep me cool anyway. ( enough air enters the stretch panels etc of my non-perforated suit). If faced with the choice of a perforated suit (if a pair were on offer for sample) I personally would only buy that suit in the event that I had a backup suit.
