Leather Knee Sliders

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by Richard R, May 10, 2019.

  1. Has anyone ever used leather knee sliders? I've seen a few guys at track days with them and wondered why you'd pay the premium over plastic?

I'd consider a pair if they last longer as my current ones have almost worn out after 2 days!

  2. You are Marc Marquez...........what do I win?

  3. Knee sliders not elbow sliders!

I've swapped the over so hopefully will get another day or 2 out of them!

  4. Maybe you should just dab your knee down instead of trying to gouge the tarmac out....

Not a fan of the idea of leather. I've touched my knee down without a slider in place and it nearly ripped my leg off at the hip! A bit too grippy for comfort.....

  5. It's only at Coppice that they really scrape for ages.... I just love the sound of it!

  6. Wooden ones?

  7. Steel ones - so they spark :upyeah:

  8. Titanium’s better, screw some into the puck they’ll last far longer and the sparks are pretty

  9. I had the composite knee sliders, but I stuck one on my arse.

    Well, it saved my leathers.

  11. You can get ones for the wet which are about twice as thick.

  12. There'll be a black flag waved at you sharpish. Not even allowed on euro gigs... I've used them though and nothing happened.

  13. I have leather ones from Hideout - personally I like them. Only ever had the right down*

    * apart from a highside event

  14. That's because you only ever ride Brands Indy!

FYI there are other tracks north of the Thames!

  15. Personally I use A-Stars they last a good few TD's, Dainese also wear well.

2 days must be a cheap material, my current set of A-Stars are less than half worn after 3 days at Aragon last week.

  16. Your the only one on here who can be accused of getting your arse down on purpose Arq :bucktooth:

  17. Leather is way better.
With in reason the plastic type ones tend to skate around and can really vibrate on some surfaces . Leather just gives a better feeling which is really what it’s there for ( unless your MM and can save a slide with !!)

Never used either on the road though , just pointless and cock waving.

  18. I learned quickly.

Stuck a patch of self-adhesive Velcro on the leathers (Hook side on the slider).

Worked fine, but it bloody well hurt if I sat down wrong.

When I stopped racing, the patch was hard to get off the leathers, but I managed it with a leather preservative and soaked it into the patch.

Came off clean with no damage to the leathers (other than the scrapes that got there before I fitted the slider).

  19. I have been to ther tracks! Even at those I have never touched my left slider down. Maybe I'm a bit wonky in the hip/leg department.
