Hi all, Bought an integral rear light from china .. in an effort to keep the original in good condition ( have heard many horror stories of stones flicking up and smashing /cracking the light ) I am getting an error on the dash when I apply the brake, the rear brake light briefly flashes then goes out with the lever pulled. Anyone installed one of these lights? Not even attempted wiring in the indicators yet, 1 yellow wire per indicator opposed to the ground / live on the OEM connections, any idea how to get those working? Any help much appreciated, considering going back to the OEM light and taking a chance but I can't see it not getting hit by stones with the way I have my plate mounted by the exhaust. Thanks all.
Hi. I have exactly the same issue as you and wondered if you found a fix to the issue. The indicators seem to work only if the originals are plugged in too. Any help would be appreciated cheers
Sorry to hear this, guys. I have the cracked rear lens you mention, and it's not rare! I would think the yellow wire L and R sides go to the positive 12volt indicator, and the (missing) return wire is probably linked in the rear light itself direct to the indicator. This is likely your centre wire, black? in the 3 way fitting. Shame manufacturers can't get this right, and would like a smoke one myself, but the OEM is pricey, the big name brand (C/Works) in America seems to leak, and the Chinese knock offs cause errors. Pants! Moose, you could try different size resisters, but I have never measured stock indicators to compare. Try RS Components for advice?
A mate of mine bought an integrated rear light. I’m sorry to tell you but whenever I followed him I couldn’t see his indicators leading to various dangerous moments. They were nowhere near bright enough. He’s just refitted separate indicators I’m happy to say, especially as we’re planning a trip.
Problem is sorted ! The unit requires additional resistors to make this work on my 2015 1299s On my bike the indicators require 150ohm resistors and the brake light needs a 1.2kohm resistor I bought some 20mm long ceramic items tucked them under the seat and all is good. Hope this helps any future enquiries Cheers Moose
