Following up from Chris' thread regarding the legalisation of prostitution, its only natural that we ask about the war on drugs... I just wondered what people thought about the controlled production, sale and distribution of specific drugs, and also perhaps the treatment of addicts...treating drug addicts as part of the health system instead of the criminal system?
I'm all for the legalisation and control of drugs. It's money into government coffers, the drugs sold would be pure, not cut with who knows what, and would probably reduce the number of addicts. The increased income would help the NHS and allow addicts to be treated. It would, I hope also reduce the number of people in jail, as there would be no need for pushers and suppliers.
The war on drugs was lost a long time ago but like any war there are people on both sides getting rich, therefore there is an incentive to keep it going.
+1 partiularly the CIA who use(d) military transport planes to bring drugs in from south america. Corrupt war on drugs. for instance. but sometimes the planes crash.. CIA Torture Jet wrecks with 4 Tons of COCAINE
