Or more specifically, let’s see what style it is and how it’s mounted. Early monsters only please, say 93-96. The reason for asking is I’ve a late 93/early 94 M900 in my hands for recommissioning at present and the way the side stand is mounted doesn’t seem right to me as it fouls the gear linkage. It’s bolted to the crankcase by being sandwiched between the footrest hangar and the crankcase, using the same 2 holes in the crankcase as the footrest hanger attaches to. If I try and position it differently it won’t mount. I’ll take better photos tomorrow but here’s these for now.
From memory that looks correctly mounted, same as my 93. Have you checked the pivot pin and stand for excessive wear, I found mine was well worn and the spring pulls the stand outwards
Thanks. Yes the stand is worn and quite sloppy and now you mention it, yes, I can see how the spring, being mounted on the outside would pull the stand out. Thank you. The only problem is the pivot pin is so corroded it will have to be cut and/or drilled out.
I’m sure I speak for everyone that likes your posts that this could turn into at least 10 pages of trauma……
I had the side stand spring of the Raptor snap when biffing along the outside lane of the M4 at er... speed. Which proved the engine cut out switch was functioning normally And it was a right old game trying to find a replacement so if you find a decent spring stockist put them up on this thread.
If its an early stand I think that they have a bush in between the stand and the bracket which may need replacing. I sold mine as I needed the ST style to enable me to fit the centre stand kit.
