Lets get the ball rolling!

  1. Loooking at buying the comfort seat. To be honest the standard is very good but planning on doing lots of miles this year. Has anybody got one or knows anybody who can give any feedback.

  2. Hi, I have the Ducati comfort seat which I find is a vast improvement over the standard seat. I live in Clifford near Wetherby, not far from you, so you could try it for a weekend and see what you think. Cheers

  3. I have the Comfort Seats also.......some improvement over standard purely due to a slightly different profile I think which also gives the impression of it being lower (although it's not).
There's a pair on eBay right now ;-)

CARE though, Comfort Seats took on water, oozed from the seems for days after heavy rain or bike wash. Ducati have been replacing with an apparently modified version (when owners ask!) but I already know of one guy who reports the new seats do the same! Mine have been replaced but I've been unable to ride for months now so they remain untested.

  4. That is a fabulous offer my good man. I may well take you up on that. Regarding the 'big W's comments, how have you found it for water ingress?

  5. I have one but it's a 2012 seat so no holes/grommets

If the pins can be swapped between bikes you could try my seat sometime one monday?

  6. I had mine repaced by Ducati Leeds after I complained that it was holding water after getting caught in a downpour. Can't confirm the replacement is any better as not tested it in heavy rain. OK in a light shower!. I'd rather have a damp bum than ar*e ache.

  7. This is all interesting info as I too would like to get the comfort seats mainly because of the look/finish compared to the std fitment, and also the obvious improvement in feel.
I did see a post last summer of a recovered seat which looked really nice! anyone know who posted?

  8. They can, just unscrew with a hex key. I've just fitted the new 2012 comfort seats to mine, cut the pin down instead of ordering a new one, 5 mins with a hacksaw and bench grinder/hand file. Mine seem to be ok after being sat outside in yesterday's downpour.

  9. Can someone post decent pics of the 2012 seat / seat fixing please.....just curious :D

Doodle, pics of your mod would be good also ;-)

  10. I'll pop a couple of pics up tonight when I get home.

This is the modified pin, basically cut it down to about 12mm above the flange, and then soften the edges.

  12. Stop it folks....every time I look there something else that's cool that I want to get....just been looking on eBay at front fender cover in carbon....lots of money for not much carbon.....now I see doodle's comfort seat and I want one of those too, don't even want to think what it's gona do to de budget.

Pst don't tell my missus haha!

  13. CarbonWorld.de and CDT-R.com discount codes here ;-)

Doodle.....thanks for the pics, do the locating holes in the seat nolonger go all the way through the seat hence the shorter locating pin?....photo with pillion seat off please :)

  14. Can't see the CDT-R discount codes or am I blind?!

  15. Sorry Bob, should have read....CarbonWorld.de discount and CDT-R.com link here ;-)
CDT don't sell direct to the public, their parts are ordinarily only available through dealers worldwide.
They make nice parts, good quality........maybe you should approach Carbon trader web site - Ducati Carbon Parts & more! and/or Moto Rapido Ducati Racing 2012 BSB Team - Site in Redevelopment (the UK dealers) and see if they'll offer a forum members discount to compete with the MTS1200.info carbonworld.de offer?

  16. The holes do, but unlike the early seats the cover is stretched over. Pic incoming.

  17. Thanks........just to make production easier / a few pennies cheaper I guess.

  18. Perhaps, but then they have to go and make a new design pin instead to match. I think the main reason is that the new pillion seat is about 10mm shorter, which means that if they had retained the hole through, it would be much more visible.

  19. That makes sense.....evidence of Ducati paying attention to owners (sometime anyway! lol), a lot of people found the pillion seat to close.

So what other changes are there fo the 2012 bike?
