So I just replaced it with a Chinese copy £11.80, and have now straightened the original
    1 propane torch 1 minute
    2 quench in water
    3 hit with hammer
    4 heat with propane
    5 quench

So which is now safer to use?, the Chinese lever fits perfectly, operates the brake light switch, just touches the plunger as the original did, is very shiny.

  5. Not sure I would entrust the efficiency of my brakes to a lever I'd hammered back into shape but then I spend my whole working life planning for when things go wrong, so it ought not to bother me.

  6. Footnote: back to the original lever, the Chinese one doesn’t adjust out far enough, feels too close to the grip even on the furthest setting, I’ll live with the risk, adds to the excitement!
